Intriguing you mention

Heath, as that's one we've been tryin' to track down for ages!

As for his lack of screen credit in Payback, maybe

simply did it as favor for Gibson and didn't want it overtly announced. Sometimes it can be that simple ...

I watched The Internecine Project recently - see thread re: Roy Budd's music - and whilst it is entertaining it is no star vehicle for Mr. Coburn.

I finally got to see it also.
Very interesting and well made but that ending...
SPOILER ALERT:

It would have been better if he got away with it and got next to the Prez (shades of THE OMEN!). OR, IF Lee grant killed him.
But, that lame rip from THE MECHANIC sucked (and Coburn knew it!)
brm

By the time I got to Santa Monica the restaurant Flint's was long gone. Based on the movie it was said to be visited often by Flint himself. Watch for Harrison Ford in a minor role in Dead Heat on a Merry Go Round. JC a great actor, a class act and on my most missed list of actors in the number one position. Watch his face light up in The Presidents Analyst when asked by William Daniels if he would like a draft beer. Thats how my face lit it every time I saw one of his films.

WATERHOLE #3
WHAT DID YOU DO IN THE WAR DADDY?
BITE THE BULLET

I've told many younger folks that once upon a time, if you were a guy, you would rush to the theater to see ANYTHING with Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, or James Coburn.

Any fans of Mr. Cool that haven't seen The Presidents Analyst, really should see it. A great movie & just so much fun. It looks like Parmount have deleted it, but you can still buy it for a couple of dollars on Amazon Marketplace.

As one of those "younger folks" (I'm shoving forty), I agree! except I had to run to my TV set. My best friend and I were more into the cinematic adventures of Coburn, Bronson, McQueen, and Marvin than anything Harrison "Wooden" Ford was up to.*

*I've mentioned this thirty times or more in this thread alone but my memories are all I have left! wink

And Then There’s His Break-Out Role Department:

Pay special attention to one of our all-tyme FAVORITE sequences, with Mr. Coburn boldly climbing up that outdoor scaffold (can you imagine an insurance company letting any actor get away with that nowadays?!?), beautifully-buttressed by Jerry Gee’s galvanizing music (and o, those ter-RIFIC Shelly Manne drums!!!!).

What’s also worth noting per that scene is how director Daniel Mann allowed it to organically flow WITHOUT A ZILLION HYPER-ACTIVE CUTS getting in the way, which allowed respectful room for Mr. Goldsmith’s thrilling contribution with both time and space to pay it dynamic justice.

Then came his second thoroughly enjoyable turn -

With e'en more fabulous Goldsmith gold

waiting to be ignited

Man, it’s must really be ruff havin’ to deal with those sorts of situations.

Check out that scaffold-climbing scene again, mate - there are NO cuts in it at all, up to and including once he reaches the summit and you can clearly see it's Mr. Coburn - then again, we won't claim absolute certainty as, per Brando, "Vas ya dere, Charlie?"

As for your unabashed admiration of the female form, Bruce-O, we gotta give it to ya: you're nuthin' if not CONSISTENT! wink smile big grin

its a stunt double Neo.
Notice all shots are from behind so you never see flint's face.
JC could have done it though, that's the main thing.

Jean Hale: eh. Not so hot. they didn't even have a love scene together
