I have listened to this album twice. Not a fan of this. I did not like Horner's Score for part 1 and Zimmer's score part 2 I can do without as well. This is very different overall. However there will be people who enjoy this album.

Listened to it now. I love it!

Especially dig the rhythmic vocals in "My Enemy".

Thor, I have great respect to you, especially after I was able to meet you in person, but seriously and with all due respect... I can not believe someone who has Jurassic Park and Batman among his personal favorite scores to love this thing!!

Concerning the supposed dearth of symphonic scores for these types of motion pictures:

THE AVENGERS
CAPTAIN AMERICA
SPIDERMAN 2
X-MEN 2.....
are some of the superhero films that are mainly symphonice (And all good!)
There are others too.

Variety is good for you!
bruce

Hmm, well their all unmemorable. Give me William's Superman, Horner's Rocketeer, Elfman's Batman, even Powell's X3. Or better yet Debney's Lair! Now that's super music. wink

i see you didn't include SUPERMAN RETURNS in you list..........

It just occured to me that some of the vocalizations in the score are reminiscent of The Sparks! Great stuff.

Hehe, mixing a couple sayings there: "Keep you on the edge of your seat" and, well, "This film is gonna grab you."

So that's what they mean by contemporary music. Sounds like Days of Thunder meets Immediate Music.

Where is this available? I have it on Amazon pre-order but the album and even MP3s aren't released until next week, and it isn't available on iTunes yet. How is everyone hearing the entire album ? frown

Please stop saying The Sparks. roll eyes

Anyway, I'm not a Hans Zimmer fan, not by a long way but I'm really enjoying his Spidey score.

Just came back from seeing the film at the IMAX in 3d. Absolutely loved every freakin' minute of it! I'm sure plenty folk won't agree but everything worked for me. Hans Zimmer's score is brilliant in the film and really carries it along. Great balance between the infectious thumping stuff for Electro and the soaring emotional parts. Having heard the cd I really don't think the album does it justice. Admittedly if you hated the Man of Steel you'll probably not like this but I love it and find it really sticks with you. Total magic!!

I can already see the knee jerk reactions from those who are inbred, I mean, predisposed to hate Zimmer big grin , and although I really don't care about the movie, am very interested in the score. Thanks for the feedback, sounds promising!

Having heard the cd I really don't think the album does it justice.

Having seen the movie yesterday I concur. I didn't like the movie as much as you did, though I did have a fun time. I saw the 2D version and don't feel I missed out on much 3D-wise. I saw the first one in preparation for part two and from the get go the scope and effects are much bigger, Zimmer's theme does do the movie justice though it appears mainly in the first reel. For me the first half of the movie is great, up until the point when Electro is incarcerated and freed by Harry Osborn, the story takes too much liberties and a lot feels contrived and run of the mill; had it been a comic book or cartoon, I wouldn't have cared so much, but for me the villains were not menacing nor intelligent at all, making it hard to care. I suspect Zimmer gave the electro character such a big musical presence because Foxx's performance was so so and lets be honest the Electro character itself is such a dufus and aside from the sparks, not all that interesting nor believable. I didn't find his beef with Spiderman all that convincing nor his actions later on. The same could be said for the Goblin, which all feels very rushed. Edit: Oh, and the moment from the trailer when Harry discovers that Oscorp had been spying on Peter Parker is not in the film, I was kind of bugged with this. The on/off love story with Gwen kinda became tedious after a while as well. So for me second half was a letdown, but the opening sequences as well as this take on the Spiderman character makes it worth seeing this movie. But whereas the first amazing spiderman got better and better throughout its running time, this one for me had the opposite effect.
