You said that already; I don't know who you are and I was just hoping for some sort of official confirmation.

Love the GIF! (Love the beginning of that movie too...basically everything up to them arriving at the New World...)

Was it directed at me or Superman1701? Do you know if he's in the biz?

Honestly, what does it matter? Even if there is no freeze (which is what I happen to believe), it's no guarantee that any CD will come out. I'm 100% certain that expanded "Insurrection" will happen. I'm 98.7% certain that it will happen this year. Just as I expect your other "Trek" GNP wish will come true. (And maybe others, too!) As we all know, a hundred different factors can delay a CD's release date. A "freeze" is but one of these.

If Brad Grey, chairman and CEO of Paramount, posted on this board today that he'd lifted any freezes now and forever, would that mean that "Insurrection" was coming next week or November 12th?

Geez, Yavar, just relax, most likely Superman1701 simply can't reveal his sources for a variety of reasons, and he is not obligated to. And even if the freeze from Paramount is off, it doesn't mean that GNP Crescendo is in any hurry to release their expanded version of INSURRECTION. They might have their own reasons for waiting on it, but it's still so early in the year I am sure it will show up eventually.

Was it directed at me or Superman1701?

That is my genuine reaction to the sweeping majority of your posts.

Ouch. Didn't realize I bothered you so much. A shame since we seem to have so much in common taste-wise. Guess you're probably not the only one I bother...

Yikes fellas I didnt realize I was being attacked. Is this really something to get upset over? I want this score as much as you if not more. Lets all relax and it will come eventually Im sure. Lets celebrate what we HAVE instead of worrying about the politics of releasing Star Trek film scores. smile

Take my opinion with some salt. I'm a curmudgeon and misanthrope.

I am calling it now - GNP will release Insurrection in November.

Why do I think this? So far GNP has released their expandeds in 6 month increments. Last one was Best of Both Worlds in May to correspond with the theater/Bluray/S3 release. Next one would be November, which would be perfectly timed because end of November/Early Dec would be around Insurrection's 15th anniversary, and also well timed for the Black Friday/Christmas holiday season.

Nothing official or confirmed of course, just my own theory.

I consider this one of Jerry's last gasps of creativity. Even though there's not much new in the way of composition and some ideas are indeed re-used, to me this was his probably one ot the final scores he did before he slipped into the streamlined over-simplified approach in the reminaing years.

It's also an example of a score that benefits from expansion, as the old GNP release is more like a tracks highlight presentation, that looses some development and cohension.

A complete release, would be most welcomed. Some of my all-time favorite Jerry cues are from this score, including the emotional opening credits; the sailing "In Custody", with the dramatic militaristic end; the beautiful "New Sight" with that lovely synth sound around the end, going up & down (I hope that sudden end of action music, is a cross fade and can be fixed); the paced "The Riker Maneuver" and driving lower end piano with brass shots, and fast strings; and the action cue which represents the action material well, "The Drones Attack". I like to think this is what "Timeline" could have been.

I actually think that Goldsmith did several really good scores after this one. And I much prefer TIMELINE to this!

Perhaps more importantly: Insurrection's finale was reshot and the final battle cue on the album isn't the one in the film (which is much more exciting).

Well put! I think too the compositional developement is nearly lost in the old album presentation. It's the kind of craftsmanship a great composer like Goldsmith invested once in his Hollywood scoring.

Reading this thread I was reminded that when I first heard the score I was a bit put off by the synths, they grew on me more and more and by the time I saw the film in the theater I enjoyed it along with the score (and the cues not on the album). When Nemesis came around, I didn't listen to it beforehand and again, the synths during first viewing this time, felt very out of place. I had to 'adapt' once again but looking back I find Insurrection a much better collabo between orchestra and synth whereas Nemesis they tend to dominate the cues more.

I wonder if other people also had that initial impression during Insurrection or Nemesis?

P.S. I'm sure had Goldsmith's score for Timeline stayed in, I'd probably have had the same reaction on first viewing.

I think this would be a great release.

Like many others, I consider this Goldsmith's best effort for the Next Generation films. If this release does come, I hope they do include the alternate version of "The Healing Process" with that exciting statement heard when the Enterprise speeds to the rescue (Heard at around 0:34 in this clip).

I know what you mean, Francis, exactly my sentiments. But those electronics have grown on me.

Given that there's a track with that exact title in the score, that looks like a clue to me! Didn't they post Data's lifeforms song the day before the Generations release too?

Chris.
