Just wow! DidnĀ“t we recently make another thread about this, talking about the difficulties of the rights situation? And now I open my laptop to find this...

THANK YOU, LUKAS!!!!

I am certainly glad it appears to be unlimited...I can't afford it until at LEAST the next paycheck, so for now it is going to have to wait.

But thanks Lukas for getting this one out, another off the want list for sure!

LUKAS KENDALL humming all the STAR WARS TRILOGY OUR NEXT RELEASE.

Don't count on it.

I asked MV what the possibilities of Sony and LLL working together to allow LLL to release the perfect Star Wars Saga box set and he said zilch. He told me there are some things that Sony wants to keep for themselves, Star Wars being one of those things.

I can imagine TITANIC is also one of those things they want to keep for themselves, but I really hope STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE is something they're willing to license out.

I'm also glad the original poster art could be used; it is absolutely perfect; the later versions with Gizmo and Stripe are not as beautiful.

I'll be in Manhattan next month. Will I be able to pick this up in a store somewhere?

Yes, yes?

Doubtful. I can't think of any store that stocks film scores here.

True

No one argues its greatness.

We just want to know what's being released NEXT!

This is no 'Back to the Future'...

Actually I beg to differ! This is 100,000 times superior to Back To The Future, which has got NOTHING on this score! And it's a historic day in film music collecting. This is Jerry Goldsmith's BEST score of the 80s and the best CD that FSM have ever released. This is my one and only time posting here and it's for a good reason. Gremlins is my final holy grail in film soundtracks and I am really happy for the score. I didn't want the second disc, but who cares. We finally get to hear this classic masterpiece in all it's anthemic glory without the crappy hiss that you got on all those terrible CD-R discs on ebay. This is one of the happiest days of my life and my life is now complete., I will die happy. I hope Goldsmith is watching down and smiling on this wonderful day!!!

Thanks for letting me know. Since it's not a limited edition, I can now wait until there are a few others I want to purchase from SAE. I ordered some from them two weeks ago so I didn't miss out on 1941. Wish GREMLINS had been in that batch.

Back to the Future and this are two pretty different scores, though similar. They both are freaking GREAT. I mean I thin BTTF put Al on the map and that's great.

Gremlins has just enough suspense/action stuff and enough warm tender moments that please me.

I have come to the conclusion that the perfect score for me is one where there is a great theme or a couple of them and some action/upbeat stuff and still some tender/heartfelt moments. I think that is why I like The Goonies so much. It has the best of both worlds for me.

DMD loves his tender moments. I think that's why I'm such a fan of Horner as he writes those long passages that I love.

Here is a shot of the OLD CD release, I like the new picture better, it looks more crisper.

Also, the new one doesn't have that horrible writing all over it!

i just relalized something

For every time the gremlin' theme play out in the GREMLIN RAG it has been raised about 2 tones (or whatever you call it)

(E.G. if the first part was C then the next part should be D)

You probbably know that already but this is the first time i have noticed it - maybe i have not paid attention to it before smile

My copy of the old CD release is also signed, however not by any of those above but by Michael Winslow who did the voice of Stripe.

You've got to admire Lukas. He started a magazine that ,sort of, complained a lot about the lack of certain scores on cd and then he actually released a ton of them himself.

drivingmissdaisy, where can I approach Joe Dante to sign me anything? He's my favourite director and I would love to contact him!
