Yeah, it is worth the upgrade. The expanded Intrada disc isn't a revelation, but the additional music is fine and it sounds great.

And if you don't like the synth approach fine, but that whole "the score is anachronistic to the period" is silly. Ben Hur's score is also anachronistic to the time period. So let's hate that one too, right ? big grin

Love the expanded version to one of my favorites. Just wish the short cue when the team measures the finals basket(forget the actual name) didn't have so much hiss.

The new addition I like most is the first training montage ('First Workout'), perfect wakeup music. smile

I already asked it but I am very undecided about this one.

I own the old release and I am very happy with it. Should I upgrade to the new release?

I would like some review from someone who owns both releases because I am tired rebuying scores I already bought in the past.

If you're like Thor, there's no reason to get it.

If you're like most of the rest of us and want a full representation of a score, including a lot of very lovely bits simply not even hinted at in the original album, get it.

If you are a fan of this score, then this release is an excellent upgrade. The softer moments, especially the cue, "Someone I Know" really round out the album and make it an excellent listening experience. This still remains one of my favorite Jerry Goldsmith scores. Yes, the synth parts are cheesy and sometimes distracting, but the main theme is vintage Goldsmith. I was ecstatic to get the full score for this and the upgrade is highly recommended, but it all depends on how much you really like this score. I feel like the softer moments really help improve an already great score. Now bring on a complete Rudy!

This is one of those Goldsmith scores that I didn't warm to initially (waiting to hear the sound of Mr Marshall hitting the floor).

I recently found the TER CD in a bargain bin and loaded it onto my iPod, and wow, I'm listening to it quite a bit now and really liking it. Guess I must pony up the money for the Intrada CD, LOL. wink

It sounds more inspiring with ever passing year?

Hopefully, the equally inspiring "Hoosiers Suite" for orchestra will come out someday on CD.

How wonderful would it be to have a new CD suites and themes compilation with "Hoosiers Suite", "QBVII Suite", "Suite from Timeline", "The Omen: Narrative for Chorus and Orchestra", etc.?

Just got Hoosiers in the mail from Intrada yesterday. Gave it a spin today. Jerry's score really gets you pumped up. smile

Indeed it does. The "Theme From Hoosiers" stays on most every playlist on my Walkman, and the album is filled with gems, great short cues that are full of adrenaline, leading up to the magnificent finale. Loved the score way back then, love it now big grin

I added it to my iPod and have it on in the background right now. smile

Indeed!

The thematic material is nothing short of inspired.

Just rewatched the movie, I still think it's an absolute sin that the first portion of the finals is tracked over! Same with the end title, it's a really cringe copy-paste at points.

I'd love to see this re-released without the album assemblies. Not sure if there's more missing than the film version beginning to "Town Meeting"...there's a short cue that plays when Dale first goes to Shooter's home, and it doesn't sound like it was tracked in. I also wonder about the synth beginning of "The Finals" which plays earlier in the same scene as "Free Shot"

Not sure I will double dip. At least this will have to stay on the back burner for some time. To many other things take priority. But keep the Goldsmith scores coming!

Well this has been on my "back burner" for eight years and it's now "Back In Stock". Should I upgrade?

Definitely. The previously unreleased cues are some of my favorite in the score (showing its darker, more introspective, and less synthy side.)

I do love this score, but find that I still prefer listening to original album presentation.

Thxs, I grabbed this release. Ive spent more on soundtracks the last two months than I have the last three or four years. Must stop. Can't keep spending like this. Ugh!

I was always unhappy with the original album presentation, the Intrada release has much better flow and is a more integral representation of the composition.

Absolutely changed my perspective on this score. The expansion fleshes out the organic elements of the music.
