It's not really what he posts so much as how he posts it.

YOR always posts while seating on his coconut-bamboo made chair.

What is wrong with that, YOR wonders?

Nothing wrong at all. YOR actually is one of the most entertaining voices here. One does not always have to agree with him - but nobody agrees with everybody all the time. So what´s the harm?

Well...

Several tracks did not play ("Unavailable" after loading). But those I could listen to...

Let´s just say: Zimmer will always be Zimmer. And Williams can lean back, assured that his work will always be remembered.

I really don´t want to be unfair since these snippets really are too short to assess the score. But I absolutely hope that there will be much more than this droning and ambiance. At least the theme from the trailer should be used throughout the score (one track snippet begins with the melody at the beginning of the trailer).

My opinion: these snippets should not have been released, they can only disappoint.

I quite like the lullaby-esque feel of 'Goodbye, My Son' but otherwise it's not grabbing me.

I'm not in to composer bashing, but I will say I really don't like what I heard in the samples.

It might work in the film — only seeing the score in the film will answer that — but as music on album, it's most definitely not appealing. To me, that is.

Agreed.

Samples are way to short to critique the score. Saying that I'm up for more.

Why does this board not have a delete option?

The samples from the action cues sounds exactly like everything Zimmer has done before: wall of sounds with the orchestra, keyboards and everything elese playing the same notes at the same time.

The movie maybe will be cool, but the score will definitly not help it at all.

I thought Yor was calling a truce on the Zimmer bashing.

I know it is brief samples but, my first thought after listening to them was "what an embarrassing Superman score."

More of the same how loud can we bang these drums action music. Even in the short samples the same drum beat pattern, sample or whatever was repeated over and over (sorry, I have no musical training so I don't know the correct musical terms). It's just not fun to listen to, IMO.

What happen to Zimmer, I really enjoy quite a few of his pre-2000 scores. Crimson Tide is my favorite Zimmer score and I love to listen to The Rock, Broken Arrow, Backdraft and The Lion King. I just think his ideas and themes were much better back then and it wasn't this drown you in noise mentality. I just wonder what prompted the change in his style.

I thought Yor was calling a truce on the Zimmer bashing.

YOR is just expressing his opinion about the new samples.

He can do that, yes?

Yes, but I think we all know Yor's opinion on Hans Zimmer now.
We can all safely assume you don't like it.

STANDARD EDITION

~~~
Original main post:
Water Tower Records will be releasing the OST for Hans Zimmer's Man Of Steel on June 11th.
There are two versions available, and they are BOTH two-disc sets
Standard Edition:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C2U6EUG/&tag=jwfancom-20
Deluxe Edition:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C2U6G7C/&tag=jwfancom-20
I guess WaterTower liked the sales of An Unexpected Journey's standard and Deluxe Edition releases, and is repeating that marketing pattern here.
Discuss.
Well, Zimmerites can all get in line obediently. His work barely stands up on one disc length, surely not for 2 discs. His work is pretty mindlessly repetitive and shallow.
Commence attacks
YOR kind of likes two Zimmer's scores:
"Smilla Sense of Snow" and "The Thin Red Line".
And the first two Batmans did not ruined the movies...
It´s not an attack on Zimmer´s music if I state my disappointment with the snippets of music that you can hear on the amazon-site.
Again, I hope that the full tracks will be better. But if you did not put up the title "MAN OF STEEL" for those samples - would you be able to say: this is the music for the new Superman movie? Would you even be able to say: This is a new score by Hans Zimmer, not a mix of all those Zimmer-scored blockbusters from the last decade?
