Great! Nice to see it is a few bucks cheaper. If there are autograph copies, it'll be a day #1 purchase for me. If not, well, I may have to hold off for now, but be assured I will add this to my collection. I am so happy to see the DC music vaults being poured out on us.

July 30th:
Caprica (probably 2-Disc Set) by Bear McCreary

Are CAPRICA and WARRIORS still coming on 30th?
Are you sure Caprica was confirmed as one of the July 30th releases? I can't remember if it was mentioned as the definitive release date for this one or if it may have been delayed a bit... hard to keep track of all of the things smile

According to Bear McCreary's prior release estimates, it's been delayed a million times due to reasons outside of his control, so I sure hope it's not delayed yet again. :-P

WARRIORS
MUSIC BY BARRY DeVORZON
SONGS BY VARIOUS ARTIST
LIMITED EDITION OF 3000 UNITS
RETAIL PRICE $19.98
LLLCD 1261

PRODUCED BY DAN GOLDWASSER
MASTERED BY MIKE MATESSINO
LINER NOTES BY ERIC LICHTENFELD and TIM GRIEVING
ART DIRECTION BY DAN GOLDWASSER

La-La Land Records, Universal Music and Paramount Pictures are proud to announce the expanded soundtrack release to the cult classic THE WARRIORS. This release features a fully remastered soundtrack of the original LP presentation along with the score Barry DeVorzon he initially wrote and recorded back in 1979. For score aficionados this release is especially exciting since it contains music that was recorded for the film, but was ultimately cut out in favor of rock songs. Like the film, DeVorzon’s theme-heavy synth rock score inspired a generation of filmmakers and musicians in the 1980’s (including John Carpenter, Harold Faltermeyer, and Hans Zimmer). It’s dark, vibrant fantastic late 70’s/early 80’s experimental film scoring at its finest. We consider this release one of the most important in our catalog of nearly 300 releases. It’s not to be missed, sucka!

As a BONUS, this cd release features an exclusive track of Mr. Silvestri’s Main Title mockup he made for the producers of the film.

Here's a more detailed press announcement (with track listing) for CAPRICA:

(July 24, 2013– Los Angeles, CA) – La-La Land Records will release the long awaited soundtrack for CAPRICA: ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK TO THE SYFY TELEVISION SERIES, composed by Bear McCreary (THE WALKING DEAD, MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., DA VINCI’S DEMONS) on July 30, 2013. The soundtrack is a 2CD set, limited edition 3000 units.

“I want to give special thanks to you guys, the CAPRICA fans. You’ve been so loyal and supportive to our series, and that means a lot to everyone involved,” said McCreary. CAPRICA was an amazing new musical journey for me. I’ve written a National Anthem, a Tauron gangster rap, a drag queen burlesque, and an opera for Alessandro Juliani, just to name a few.”

Set 58 years before Battlestar Galactica, CAPRICA follows two rival families - the Graystones and the Adamas - as they grow, compete, and thrive in the vibrant world of the peaceful 12 Colonies, living in a society close to our own. Entangled in the burgeoning technology of artificial intelligence and robotics that will eventually lead to the creation of the Cylons, the two houses go toe-to-toe, blending action with corporate conspiracy and sexual politics. CAPRICA delivered intrigue, political backbiting and family conflict in television's first science fiction family saga.

Just like with his groundbreaking music for BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, McCreary needed to create a new universe for th inhabitants of the 12 planets. “Each principal setting in CAPRICA has a unique sound,” McCreary described. “The upper echelons of Caprican society, the Graystone’s world, are underscored with an intellectual, classical sound. The Tauron mafia is accompanied by traditional acoustic instruments, evocative of old Europe. And New Cap City is set to an undulating backbone of video-game inspired analog synthesizers.”

It’s this sort of out-of-the-box thinking that led WIRED Magazine to call McCreary a “Secret Weapon” in a recent issue. His unique combination of atypical instrumental background (he is a professional accordionist) with rigorous classical training prepared him to compose for disparate genres. By the age of 24, McCreary was launched into pop culture history with his groundbreaking score to Syfy’s hit series Battlestar Galactica, for which he composed “the most innovative music on TV today” (Variety). It “fits the action so perfectly, it’s almost devastating: a sci-fi score like no other” (NPR). Io9.com declared Bear McCreary one of the Ten Best Science Fiction Composers of all time, listing him alongside legends John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith and Bernard Herrmann.

McCreary continues to write for the television show THE WALKING DEAD and this fall for MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Recently he lent his talents to the STARZ/BBC co-production DA VINCI’S DEMONS, for which he earned his second Emmy nomination, and Syfy and Trion World’s groundbreaking entertainment experience, DEFIANCE, a combined launch of a MMO videogame. His upcoming projects include BLACK SAILS (produced by Michael Bay) and the films EUROPA REPORT, which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival, and KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM. His other credits include critically acclaimed scores for series such as TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, EUREKA, and THE CAPE. His swashbuckling score for HUMAN TARGET featured the largest orchestra ever assembled in the history of series television and earned him his first Emmy nomination. His videogame credits include SOCOM 4 and Dark Void.

La La Land is a great label and I've bought a lot of their releases over the last few years. However, my wallet is relieved to hear me say, that I'll pass on this batch.

Many thanks

Reloaded in August? Yes! Just a month or less to go!

This news deserves some MTV-style Reloaded hilarity to help tide us over:

Wow, Reloaded looks so cool. Starting to turn into an expensive summer, what with Caprica and this so soon after. Sure hope Revolutions isn't far away. Pity we can't have a complete Matrix with matching artwork to complete the set.

I'd forgotten how much I disliked The Matrix and its sequels. Some nice set pieces and that was about it (for me).

I think the Matrix films have gotten better with age- certainly considering some of the dumb blockbusters I have seen over the last few years I appreciate some of the ambition and themes in the writing. No they are not perfect but I'd love to see a fourth Matrix movie. There's more to be told, I'm sure, and it'd beat having to see more POTC snore-fests.

This! I am bigger fan now than I was at the time. These are truly wonderful escapism films.

When I saw the first film in the theater, it wasn't that great, but it opened so much promise. So, I saw the second film in the theater.

One of the mosty Godawful films I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. So rarely in cinema history has a sequel so thoroughly disposed of it's potential, in such a grand fasion.

I saw clips from the third film online, since there was no way in hell I was paying to see that. I couldn't stand it, it was so terrible, had to stop playing the clips!

I'd say Davis' scores, which I've always been a big fan of, have gotten better with age.
