Listening too Little Mermaid now. The crispness and stereo separation sounds great. Individual instruments are clearly heard. I Like the flow of the additional music as well. (what I heard so far)

Now my one nitpick thus far. I really dislike the mix for "Fireworks". Its like they reversed the prominent instruments in that cue. What was once in the forefront is almost not heard at all. It's either a really bad remix, or there's something wrong with that cue.

Thus far I am up to "Flotsam and Jetsam" and "Fireworks" is the only track that really sticks out in a negative way.

Well, Fireworks on the Legacy set is actually missing the chorus from the OST.

Holy cow I didn't even catch that. eek frown

Edit: "Happy Ending" on the Legacy is weird too. Just when you expect to hear the chorus come in it's just orchestral, then it sort of repeats itself with the same notes, then the chorus finally comes in like on the OST.

Having listened to the samples, other tracks sound pretty wierd too. Since the second disc is all in mono I wouldn't be buying it anyway, but it's nice to know that the first disc also has enough wierdness that sticking to the original OST I'm not missing much....

With Bruce Botnick and our dear Neil S. Bulk having worked on this release, I can't believe such grave errors have slipped in. I 'd guess there must be a reason to all of this (film version, original recording, ...).

Hopefully Neil himself will chip in and clear up this matter! smile

The sonics/sound level for "Fireworks" and "Jig" from the OST are real close to those on the Legacy. So it was an easy fix as far as replacing "Fireworks" from Legacy and importing those other tracks from the OST. I may replace "Happy Ending" as well with the OST version. Besides that I'm very happy with the release.

Any thoughts on the Fantasia 4 Disc Legacy Collection? curious if the audio will be better on these discs then the older versions. I own the old 1990 era Fantasia Cds and the old Irwin Kostal set also.

Regarding Pinocchio Legacy release doesn't sound like there's any sonic improvement. They may have added some reverb. I guess in an attempt to add a little more oomph on an otherwise tinny mono score. Other than that I can't tell a difference.

Is the Little Mermaid available anywhere in the world in regular jewel case?
The Lion King certainly was...

I've loved all these releases, but am more excited about the modern era Disney scores (LITTLE MERMAID, THE LION KING, etc) than the vintage stuff.

Next up is TOY STORY on March 17th... Has there been any artwork / additional info released about it yet? I'm still hoping they decide to throw in the complete score to TOY STORY 2 as a bonus, but I know that's just wishful thinking...

I'm excited about Disneyland set that's due out in April too.

Thxs for the update. Still very excited for Pocahontas and Cinderella. The releases have been a mixed bag from very disappointing to holy grail received.

I must say this is quite disappointing. But then again, a majority of this collection has been a disappointment, especially with the Walt-era titles. I can't help but wonder why those three were canceled. Based on the way this collection has been going, I wouldn't be shocked if Cinderella ends up being exactly the same as the 2012 CD.

I hope its not a sign of under performance. Hopefully those other titles need additional production time. And yes, the Walt era stuff has been a disappointment. But the 90's expansions are a dream come true for me.

Hopefully they refund some of that dough!

Or maybe those releases are just delayed, not cancelled smile

I would suspect if any official word comes out about this from Disney, it will be to the prepaid-set people. So you may be the first to know

I'm not sure I buy Jason LeBlanc's conclusion that the releases have been cancelled or delayed. A few days ago, there were only the top six releases (Pinocchio, Fantasia, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Mary Poppins, and The Lion King) pictured and nothing else. What's new is that they've added a third row containing space for the three future releases mentioned earlier in this thread, but without finalized artwork.

While it is true, that TOY STORY, DISNEYLAND and LADY AND THE TRAMP do not presently have tiles, they actually never did in the the first place, which kind of makes "quietly removed" seem like a conclusion jump to me. And the top of the page still says "12 releases" - not 9 - and lists TOY STORY and LADY AND THE TRAMP among them.

So until someone from Walt Disney Records says otherwise, it looks to me like these releases are still happening.

Well, I hope you're right!

Maybe they moved those 3 titles from Q2 to Q4

Also, the website still lets you purchase the TOY STORY release:

http://store.disneymusicemporium.com/legacy-collection-toy-story-cd/details/39814490

(although it doesn't contain a track list, artwork, or any other details)

Another thing, every release includes original custom artwork created by one particular artist. Perhaps there's a hold up there. Not saying there is, but if there was an issue, it's not like they could just hire another graphic designer and pick up where they left off in short notice.
