Who knows, maybe the song was always intended to go there. The unused end title piece could have started right after the song as the edited suite does.

When I got the soundtrack, I synched up "End Titles" on my stereo as they played on TV and it fit perfectly, coming to an end just as the edited suite started.

I like the film a lot and I hope they do indeed make the sequel. I'd like to see where they take the Zartan as President thing and the escape of Cobra Commander and Destro.

I agree, though I do hope they have a plan for keeping Baroness a Cobra. The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the Duke/Baroness relationship and would have preferred that she was working with Cobra (or rather, the pre-Cobra) because she wanted to.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film cost 175 million. Add to that probably 100 million in advertising, which is a typical figure for a film this big.

It earned 300 million worldwide, which is impressive, but then you add DVD sales, cable rights, and most importantly... toy sales.

I bet we see a sequel.

I didn't think about toy sales being that important in regards to the film's success, but if that's the case that's good, because the toyline appears to have been pretty popular based on the activity I saw on a Joe forum over the summer. And the first week alone for the DVD release made about $41 million. smile

Actually, the G.I. Joe film toy line underperformed, but I think that may have been because of over production. Same with Transformers 2 toys this time around.

Being very fond of this score (one of my most-listened in recent years along with Beowulf smile ), I bought the DSD-remastered CD from Rambling Records, released in 2014.

While the second half of the CD doesn't sound different to me, the first tracks have, I believe, better sound quality. Especially the very first track, Clan McCullen.
In fact, the most noticeable difference to my ears is that the bass frequences (from the electronics) are not as loud as before. They were a little bit overpowering in specific tracks, mudding the overall sound. There is a lot more details in the electronics now and the orchestra seems to "breath" more here too (in the first tracks essentially). I also noticed that the part with waterphones mixed with electronics at the beginning of track 9 is much more clear and precise in this version.

I'm no sound expert but it sounds slightly better to my tin ears, at least ...I could just be trying to convince myself though! big grin

Never heard of this re-release. Wasn't there some issue with the Varese where it appeared that several tracks were lossy sourced?

Rambling Records re-issued several soundtracks since october 2014 in a "DSD Remastering Collection". The first run of 50 titles featured a lot of Varèse titles. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was one of them. It caught my attention because of the mastering issues you mention (only on a few tracks), which were officially dismissed by Varèse. I thought it could be the opportunity to get an "improved" version.

Sadly there is no Hellboy album in that DSD-remastered collection.

Of course.
I got mine from YesAsia:

You can also order it from Ark Square:
http://www.arksquare.net/index_main.html ("DSD remastering" in the search bar)

Other japanese retailers certainly have it too.

You're welcome.

Don't except night and day changes though, they are very subtle. You have to be extremely familiar with the previous album to notice them (apart from the first track).

I understand. Do you have any experience with the DSD remasters of Aliens or T2?

No, I don't.
In fact, I'm also interested to know more about these two wink

So which one of us is going to bite the bullet? big grin

I listened to T2 recently and found the old Varese CD to sound kind of anemic. I would hope that the DSD remastered disc would sound a little more robust. Maybe. Hopefully.

I received my Japanese copy of T2 today and am listening to it right now. It blows the old Varese CD out of the water. It is much more robust and dynamic. Very happy with the purchase. These DSD re-releases appear to be the real deal. Thanks for recommending them.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll take this one too next time then :-)

I bumped the thread with the first 50 titles in the DSD remaster collection:

I did an A/B comparison and my oh my does the new DSD remaster sound so much better. The old Varese CD sounds like a bootleg cassette tape, just lifeless. Really ecstatic with this CD. Definitely getting Aliens.

It's a shame the Aliens DSD remaster is sold out everywhere. I regret not buying it with T2, but T2 is definitely the bigger upgrade. The Aliens DE still sounds great. The original T2 disc sounded like shit.
