Featuring Dick Powell as narrator and actor, Zane Grey Theater was a western anthology based on the novels and stories of author Zane Grey. Due to its unique production many film and television stars wanted to act in the series. Season two features many big name actors such as: Denver Pyle, Walter Brennan, Anne Bancroft, Michael Landon, Robert Vaughn, Barbara Stanwyck, Nick Adams, Claudette Colbert, Lloyd Bridges, James Drury, DeForest Kelley, Cesar Romero and many others! NOTE: Due to legal reasons the episode "Sharpshooter" (pilot for The Rifleman) was unable to be included in this set. Bonus Features: Biography of Zane Grey with Zane Grey's Son, Dr. Loren Grey; Feature Film: Zane Grey's Man of the Forest.

Five years ago VCI Entertainment released the first season, out of five which were produced. Now the Timeless Media Group (TMG) and their owners at Shout! Factory are following up at last with Zane Grey Theatre - The Complete 2nd Season on DVD. According to Amazon's pre-order listing (see button link below), the 4-disc set will cost $19.97 SRP, and is out starting September 9th. That's five months away, now, so it could be subject to change! As you can see from the Amazon-provided studio description quoted above, there will be a couple of extras, but there will also be an episode missing due to legal reasons. So this release is MOSTLY "Complete," but not completely complete.

Medical Center, the fifth season now available:

"Chad Everett and James Daly, as Chief of Surgery Joe Gannon and Chief of Staff Paul Lochner, continue their hit run as the groundbreaking medical drama entered its well-seasoned fifth year. As the country started to come of cynical age due to Watergate, urban blight and rampant inflation, Drs. Gannon and Lochner waged their healers' war against the likes of hysterical paralysis, sudden infant death, gambling addiction, kidney transplants and seismic- sensitive seizures.

Parallel to these perils of the body, the show bravely confronts infidelity, intolerance, mid-life crisis, repressed homosexuality and returning Vietnam POWs."

Bring on that post-Watergate cynicism, which imo was at its cultural peak circa 1973-75, and is quite a different mindset than the Still-Getting-Over-the-Sixties early '70s and the Disco-Drenched-1976-and-On late '70s. Fascinating stuff, if only to me.

Yes you can: while Amazon.com doesn't show the Blu-ray version just yet (that we can find, anyway), Amazon.com is accepting DVD pre-orders right away! In 2007, TimeLife.com began exclusively selling The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - The Complete Series, a collection which came in a collectible "attache case" package. In 2008, Warner Home Video took over the product, selling the same package "wide" at general retail. While you can still find copies of it around, that item has actually been discontinued for a little while, and there are still many fans out there who still haven't gotten it...or don't want it in the oversized special packaging it's been available in so far.

For those fans, Warner is re-releasing The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - The Complete Series this November 4th in a new "unlimited" (and shelf-friendly) package, with the same 41 DVDs as previously included, but apparently without all the accompanying bells and whistles. Expect the discs to come in slimmer season sets, and a separate case for the bonus "debriefing" discs, all slid into an outer slipcase that we've got pictured below, front and back. Price will be $199.92 SRP

Let's hope they restored the missing seven minutes in the scene where Anthony Hopkins (Adam Kelno) talks to the sheik (Gregoire Aslan) which was missing from the original relase but is on the V.H.S. version.

This past November 11th (last week, on Tuesday), Warner Home Video released the legendary 1966 Batman series, starring Adam West and Burt Ward, in its entirety. The program's 3 seasons (including a second season twice as long as the first or the third!) were not only put out on DVD, but also on a DYNAMIC! Limited Edition Blu-ray set, which sells for $269.97 SRP in the USA and CA$299.99 SRP in Canada. That Limited Edition set in high-def BD format included special numbered packaging (95,000 copies in all) that comes with an exclusive Hot Wheels replica Batmobile, the Adam West Scrapbook, and 44 vintage trading cards.

Ever since Warner announced it this past summer, fans have been complaining that they would like the Blu-ray version...but in a less expensive set, without the "goodies" (Batmobile, scrapbook, and cards), and in packaging that is more "shelf-friendly." Well, my friends...you got it! Warner hasn't formally announced it yet, but Amazon.ca (the Canadian branch) has added a pre-order listing for Batman - The Complete Television Series on Blu-ray Disc, in an "unlimited" version of the packaging! AND, according to that listing, it will be available in time for Christmas, with a December 16th release date!

According to the package art, front and back (see below) that Amazon.ca is showing, you'll get the same 13 discs, with the same on-disc bonus material. Amazon's listing also says "UV," indicating that the UltraViolet digital copies will still be included with the set. The rear box art also shows that the episode guide booklet will still be in the package, too. It seems that the only missing items will be the Batmobile Hot Wheels replica, the Adam West scrapbook, and the vintage playing cards (and the oversize package, of course). Price there is CA$259.99 SRP, a CA$40 list price savings over the Limited Edition cost in Canada.

What about State-side? Well, the USA branch for Amazon.com also shows a listing for this item, displaying a list price of $239.99 SRP ($30 MSRP less than the BLU LE version). The issue with Amazon.com's entry is that they have a typo there, saying that the release date is "Nov. 11"...same as the version that's already out. Clearly that's a mistake, but it's one that let you "pre-order" as much as it lets you "back-order," since that listing claims the title is "Temporarily out of stock." Go ahead and order it anyway; Amazon can't ship it until they get stock on December 16th...but that's just 3-and-a-half weeks away. BAT-RIFFIC!

Maude - AND THEN THERE'S MAUDE! DVD 'Complete Series' Announced by Shout! Factory
19-disc set with all 6 seasons will come to stores in mid-March
Posted by David Lambert
12/02/2014

Uncompromising, enterprising, anything but tranquilizing...

Television history has given us many memorable, amazing women… and then there's Maude. Bea Arthur (The Golden Girls) stars as the feisty and funny title character in Maude: The Complete Series, finally available on DVD from Shout! Factory.

Created by Norman Lear (All In The Family), Maude pushed the boundaries for network television during its six-year network run from 1972 to 1978. Often controversial and always refreshingly honest, the series never shied away from tackling the topical issues of the day, yet its depth of character and humor left audiences laughing all the way.

Decades after its initial broadcast, Maude remains a benchmark in television for its sharp, intelligent writing, impressive supporting cast (including Bill Macy, Adrienne Barbeau, Conrad Bain and Rue McClanahan) - and of course, the amazing Ms. Arthur. In a role that earned her a well-deserved Emmy award, Bea Arthur created an indelible portrait of a fiercely liberated woman, paving the way for other noteworthy, female-driven sitcoms from Roseanne and Murphy Brown to 30 Rock.

Right on, Maude!
Before Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan were Golden Girls, before Bill Macy helped Steve Martin be The Jerk, before Adrienne Barbeau fought The Fog, before Conrad Bain had his Diff'rent Strokes and Esther Rolle's "Florida Evans" spun off into her Good Times... they were all together in Norman Lear's All In the Family spin-off, Maude.

Bea Arthur first appeared in All In the Family as Edith Bunker's cousin "Maude Findlay"...an outspoken counterpoint to Edith's conservative husband, Archie Bunker. She proved to be so popular that producer Norman Lear gave Maude her own show, and fans have been hoping for DVD releases for years. Sony put out Season 1 back in 2007, but nothing else since then.

Last night, the folks at Shout! Factory made it public that on March 17th they will bring ALL SIX seasons to stores with Maude - The Complete Series on DVD. The 19-disc set contains all 141 episodes, with each of them closed captioned for the hearing impaired. Extras, if any, have not been announced at this time. Our thanks to the DOZENS of folks who have emailed us overnight and this morning to make sure we saw this info.

Cost is $159.99 SRP, but you can pre-order it from the Shout! Factory online store using the button link immediately below, and you'll lock in your copy at a lower cost (the Shout! Store is currently discounting this title to $128.99). Even better, folks who have been waiting forever to own all six seasons of this show will be glad to see this posted on that page: "Special Offer Order this title from ShoutFactory.com and get FREE standard shipping ONE MONTH EARLY! " Woohoo! Here's a link to that:

Cool! Wish they would do a special edition and redo the SFX like was done on STTOS. I'm normally against replacing effects shots but I liked the concept used on ST. Those original shots are really bad and they reused the same few over and over again.
