We've recently received an email from one of our devoted readers, "Michael," who passed along a tip to us that Visual Entertainment Inc. (VEI) of Canada was producing a new DVD release for the 1973 U.K. program Thriller, which was created/written/produced by Brian Clemens (The Avengers)...and which is not to be confused with the 1960 show hosted by Boris Karloff. The '73 show had a DVD release of Season 1 back in 2006, but nothing more since then. Now, according to our reader's tip, VEI has acquired the rights and they plan to put out a box set in 2015. Naturally we've checked in with our contacts at VEI directly, to confirm this information. Today we've gotten a response! The studio informs us that they do indeed have the license to the show for a DVD release, and they currently plan to get a title out in Early 2015. As for a specific date, or even a month, things have not been finalized yet. For the same reason (that the set is still a work in progress), they cannot verify anything else about the exact content at this time, either. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll update you more about this, as further developments occur! http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Thriller-DVDs-Planned/20567

Here's an early heads-up for you! Long-time DVD buyers who are fans of the classic UK show know that between 2001 and 2005, A&E Home Video released The Saint on disc. The original show, starring a pre-007 Roger Moore, ran for 6 series (seasons) on the U.K.'s ITV channel between 1962 and 1969. The old DVD releases are out of print, and can go for QUITE a pretty penny in after-market (used copy) sales these days. Someone ought to re-release these episodes, don't you think? It looks like Shout! Factory might have come to the same idea! Two new pre-order listings found at Amazon.com, both with release dates of April 21st, show a Shout! release coming for The Saint -Seasons 1 & 2 ($39.97 SRP) and also The Saint - The Complete Series ($199.98 SRP) as well. The studio hasn't formally announced these items, and the Amazon listings don't yet show any details or cover art...so for now we're only assuming this is for the Roger Moore series. The titling alone show it's clearly not for the 1997 big-screen remake starring Val Kilmer, or for the 1979 Return of the Saint telefilm starring Ian Ogilvy. Nor is it for the series of six telefilms starring Simon Dutton which began in 1989, because Acorn Media is giving those their own DVD sets. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll update you further on the Shout! releases, as more information becomes available! http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Saint-The-Complete-Series/20645 Taken from: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Saint-The-Complete-Series/20645#ixzz3Ons1bdb3

A week ago we had the heads-up that Shout! Factory was working on a DVD release of The Saint - The Complete Series starring Roger Moore, and a separate lower-cost DVD release of The Saint - Seasons 1 & 2 as well. According to pre-order listings at Canada's Amazon.ca, these items are both scheduled to be released - at least north-of-the-border - on April 21st. At the time of that report, we didn't have any U.S.A. release info yet...and we weren't 100% sure it was the 1960's show starring a pre-007 Roger Moore, either! However, now Amazon.com, the USA branch of the big e-tailer, has added their own American pre-order listings for the two titles! The entries there show that it's actually Shout!-owned the Timeless Media Group division putting out these items, and while there are no box art images yet, the descriptions included at those listings confirm the Moore-starring ITV program is indeed the focus of these items; we've got those for you below. We've also got Amazon.com links to each of the titles, and when you click on them you'll see that - at least according to Amazon, since Shout! still hasn't formally announced them - the American date for The Complete Series is May 26th, and the State-side date for Seasons 1 & 2 is a long way off, on October 13th. We'll tell you what's what with those dates once the studio makes a formal announcement, so stay tuned! The Saint - The Complete Series: When sinners strike, call on THE SAINT! Modern-day Robin Hood. Wealthy man of mystery. Debonair rogue. Call Simon Templar what you will, but never cross THE SAINT. A timeless figure of adventure since his creation by Leslie Charteris in 1928, The Saint has thrilled adventure aficionados with his exploits in a variety of media, including novels, movies, and radio but nowhere was the dashing Mr. Templar more indelibly realized than in his 1960's television series, presented here in one outstanding collection: The Saint- The Complete Series. Starring the perfectly-cast Roger Moore as Simon Templar, The Saint was a benchmark in the lifespan of the character, and a stepping stone to Moore taking on the role of an even more well-known man of action later in his career. Featuring thrilling acts of derring-do, beautiful places (and people), and a sly wit, this complete set of all 118 episodes of The Saint are a heavenly addition to your collection. With guest star appearances by Oliver Reed (Tommy, Gladiator), Academy Award-winning actress Julie Christie (Darling, Doctor Zhivago), Donald Sutherland (The Dirty Dozen), Edward Woodward (TV's The Equalizer) a bevy of Bondian beauties (Goldfinger's Honor Blackman and Shirley Eaton, as well as Lois Miss Moneypenny; Maxwell), and many more. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to the series, it's time to say Halo! to The Saint. The Saint - Seasons 1 & 2: All 39 heavenly episodes from Season One and Two of THE SAINT! Templar more indelibly realized than in his 1960's television series, starring the perfectly cast Roger Moore in the title role. Seasons One and Two of The Saint set the stage for what would become a six season run on television, and paved the way for the dashing Roger Moore to take on the role of an even more famous man of action later in his career. With guest starring appearances by such notables as Oliver Reed (Tommy, Gladiator), Academy Award-winning actress Julie Christie (Darling, Doctor Zhivago) and a pair of beauties from the spy classic Goldfinger (Honor Blackman and Shirley Eaton), The Saint is a wild and witty adventure that is every bit as fun and exciting today as it was when it first aired. http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Saint-The-Complete-Series/20663
