I've recently run across two wondeful films I want to own but can't find on BLURAY....only DVD.

FRANK AND ROBOT (2012)

L U V (2012)

I'm wondering if others have had a similar problem with other recent films.

Yes, and it's annoying. Fortunately, most titles are available on BD at least somewhere. For example, there are releases in UK, Germany and elsewhere of Robot & Frank. Absentia has only a crappy non-anamorphic DVD in the US but got a BD release in Germany. So if you invest in a region free player at least most of them will be available to you. No idea about LUV though.

Some others that I would love to see on BD -- not necessarily because I think they'd benefit from a huge quality upgrade but because I'm mostly not purchasing DVDs anymore -- are SKELETONS and THE BOTHERSOME MAN. And two I want on BD that I'm surprised aren't are Fatih Akin's dramas, HEAD-ON and THE EDGE OF HEAVEN.

What about the one by Christopher Nolan, with Christian Bale (no, not the Batman movies) and Scarlett Johansson? It was from a few years back and I think it was called "The Prestige" or something. A strange movie, to be sure. Is that available on BLURAY?

Really? Thanks for the info. I couldn't find it when last I looked; only came up with "Inception". (Oh, and the Batman movies, of course....)

It appears Europe gets BluRay releases a good year or more before the US. What's up with that?!

I'm still waiting for Neil Simon's The Goodbye Girl on blu.

It was nominated for best picture Oscar in '77 and Dreyfus won for best actor, so it is crazy it isn't available. That said it isnt on R2 DVD either.

1977 isn't exactly recent though, Mike!

Just found out one I did enjoy on DVD is now coming out on Blu-Blackfish. I recommend it.

D'oh! Long day coupled with apparent stupidity!
