CD world premiere of bright, tuneful Alan Silvestri soundtrack for Robert Zemeckis 3-D computer animated motion capture filming of Charles Dickens novel for Walt Disney Pictures, featuring Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, Bob Hoskins. While I'm excited to see a release of this I wish they would have added the Joy to the World finale to this. I always thought the score ended so abruptly. Even though it's source music I liked Silvestri's arrangement of it. It's still ordered though!

I am quite interested in this title, out of the four new Intrada releases this is a possible purchase along with the Bruce Broughton score.

A wonderful Christmas gift.
Great score. The integration of those famous christmas carols like Deck the halls etc. and Silvestri's own material makes this one of my favorite christmas related scores.

It's glourious, it's dark, it's joyfull, funny, calm and powerful at the same time.
God bless you, Intrada!

Well said. I love this score. Familiar yes, but a pure joy and one of my top five Christmas soundtracks.

I haven't seen the movie yet. I know... sacrilege.

Is this release pretty much "complete" or is there more out there to necessitate another release down the line?

Except "Joyeux Noel" which I haven't seen/listended to yet, your list is congruent with mine. smile
My #4 would be "Miracle on 34th Street" (Broughton).

I'll check out "Joyeux Noel" now...

As far as I now this is pretty much "complete". It's the same content as the download and it's in chronological film order. I think there are some minor tracks missing, but the highlights are on the album. (I think)

I really enjoyed the movie. I'm a big fan of the Dicken's story and this version contains some nice ideas. Right, it's very action-oriented and some scenes definitely add more to the 3D experience than to the story, but those scenes are nevertheless great fun.
It's a Robert Zemeckis film and that's what you get. (for some this is not a good sign, I for myself love the director's work)
Small spoiler: The idea of Scrooge taking the coins which the undertaker put on Marley's eyes is just brilliant (IMHO). In one small act it shows us Scrooge's greedy and merciless character.

The movie is quite dark and menancing. No (small) children stuff. Marley's ghost gave me the creeps.

They played the Main Titles from this the other day on Classic FM.
It was a pleasant surprise to hear it on mainstream radio.
Silvestri is growing a rep on Classic FM, along with Williams, Morricone, Barry and Zimmer.
You quite often hear BACK TO THE FUTURE and THE AVENGERS being played.
Now...This.

Is this over the air radio or do you need whatever that radio subscription service is called?

It's just a regular 'free air' FM channel that broadcasts from within the UK, but is, apparently, the most listened to Classical Music station in the World.
It's right next to Smooth FM on the dial (a sister station, I believe), which plays light pop/love songs from the 70s to the 00s.
Classic FM is about 85% classical stuff, with the remainder being popular/classic film music titles, of which Williams, Barry, Morricone & Zimmer rule the roost.
Debbie Wiseman actually has a programme (or used to) in which she hosts and plays music (but not the film stuff, surprisingly).
Saturday Night at the Movies (7-00 til 9-00pm) is a 2 hour weekly show that plays nothing but film music (usually themed...Disney..Adventure..War scores..Sci-Fi etc) for its duration.
