FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15

THE WALKING DEAD---George A. Romero said he tuned down an offer to direct episodes of THE WALKING DEAD, "Once they bleed out of pop culture I'll be able to go back and do them again. I don’t want to touch them now. Gosh, they are all over the place. THE WALKING DEAD is the number one television series in the States, WORLD WAR Z, games, commercials… Ugh! It’s too much!
It feels like I don’t have a horse in the race. They asked me to do a couple of episodes of THE WALKING DEAD but I didn’t want to be a part of it. Basically it’s just a soap opera with a zombie occasionally. I always used the zombie as a character for satire or a political criticism and I find that missing in what’s happening now."
Robert Kirkman commented on the future of the comic book, “I think the book will go past 300 issues at this point. Charlie and I absolutely love what we’re doing and it is exactly the thing I have wanted to do ever since I wanted to do comics. I’m having the time of my life. The book is going to go on for a long time and no one is safe… not even Rick.”

At least it's a unique idea, and not just another superhero movie!

Ummm yeah. I mean, Night Of The Living Dead is an influential horror movie yes but when was the last time Romero actually made a decent movie? 1988's Monkey Shines?

I love his " I use the zombie for satire or a political criticism" line. Umm George... really your "satire" was about as ham fisted as can be. Sounds like sour grapes. The Walking Dead has some problems sure but it beats the hell out of anything Romero has done in over 20 years.

I thought Land of the Dead was a terrific movie with a lot more inspiration than The Walking Dead (which is decent programming).

On the other hand, The Walking Dead has nothing on the best films Romero made.
