Pat Williams was one of those recognisable musical voices from my early days of discovering film music - particularly made-for-TV movies of the 1970s… SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL, MRS SUNDANCE, TERROR IN THE SKY, HARDCASE… and I particularly loved his bouncy scores for the two comedy westerns HITCHED and LOCK STOCK & BARREL.

Excellent composer. I too await the release of his (and others') Columbo scores, but as for my pick of an album to try out if you're unfamiliar with him...I'd go with Kritzerland's Cuba...just haunting! Yavar

Disappointed Disney re-released The Muppet Movie soundtrack without any additional music. Love his Flying Dreams from NIMH. NIMH was Paul Williams. Shoot, I get those two mixed up all the time. LOL I'm sorry to laugh, but if you ever saw these two men standing next to one another you would never get them mixed up again. It would be like Gandalf standing next to Frodo. MV

I don't know what, if any, original Pat Williams music there is in BREAKING AWAY, but I love the way the non-original pieces were adapted and arranged by Williams and would be thrilled with a soundtrack release.

Hear and watch Patrick`s LOU GRANT Season 1 theme again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EWe9y7nyPM Note the nice variation of the theme at 1,56-4,36. And here is a rare arrangment of the Main theme from season 2+3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nw1Cr7MLUQ Enjoy! A great theme, isn't it? I wish they'd release LOU GRANT on DVD The second version you posted is, I think, the cover version done by the Daniel Caine Orchestra (aka Derek Wadsworth), which is nice too.

Daniel Cain was Derek Wadsworth??? I truly didnt know. Allways admired Wadsworth for his great score for SPACE:1999, Year two. Sadly, it seems that there will never be a Lou Grant DVD release because of political reasons. Because of the liberal themes and stand of views, but mostly because of Ed Asners political activitys, LOU GRANT was banned from the air in the early 80`s and is even today not loved by 20th Century Fox (now owner of MTM, wich original produced the series). Truly sad, because its really one of the best series of the 70`s (the characters the acting, stories and the directing is much better and realistic than on many of today`s serious TV-shows). But you can watch the episodes on amazon.com
