I've never heard of the label, but apparently it's been around for a while. Doesn't anybody know if it's a legitimate, like Music Box and Intrada, or if it's more like Hakrit? Bruce? MV? Some another label head know?

Saimel is a legal Spanish label. They are about 20 years publishing Spanish and Italian soundtracks. Composers like Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, Piero Piccioni, Armando Trovaioli, Francesco De Masi, Angelo Francesco Lavagnino, Bruno Nicolai, Carlo Siliotto... José Nieto, Roque Baños, Carles Cases, Juan Bardem, Eva Gancedo... are in their catalogue. http://www1.screenarchives.com/display_results.cfm/category/480/SAIMEL/ http://www.rosebudbandasonora.com/SAIMEL.HTM

As for this new release, from experience I won't blind buy pre-1964 DeMasi, but will wait for audio clips with ultra-open ears. Hi, morrifan. At present, I do not own any soundtracks by Francesco De Masi. I hope maybe to get one before 2014, but we'll see... ...nonetheless, I'm curious about your statement. What is it about pre-1964 De Masi that you don't like? Personally, Italian film music from 1959 through 1964 is my favorite period for Italian soundtracks. I love soundtracks by Roberto Nicolosi, Giovanni Fusco, Gino Marrinuzi Jr., etc., and most of all Piero Piccioni. This is not to say that I don't care for Ennio Morricone albums, but I think, once groove entered during mid-1960s, Italian film music thereafter had less variety of orchestral scores and fashionable pop-music vibe began to dominate too much. Still, I love Piccioni & Morricone music from 1971 (perhaps the finest year of all), but Piccioni soundtracks between 1960 & 1963 get the most re-play from me! I'm considering getting the LA LAMA NEL CORPO (THE MURDER CLINIC) / LO SPETTRO (THE GHOST) CD by De Masi. Or maybe one of De Masi's Maciste albums. What's your input on these pre-'64 titles (if you have any)?

Well, I'm just asking; I keep getting weird non-answers; it's been around a while -- so has Tsunami and now Hakrit. It's released such-and-such composer; so have the aforementioned illegitimate labels. And another one I don't recall.
