Now it's gone up $20, and I'm probably glad I didn't see this or open any of the notices this frequent customer of Amazon receives each day from them, because while it would be nice to have these on Blu-ray, who has the time to watch them? So they'd be more things NOT to watch! But I MIGHT buy the complete TNG on Blu-ray when it comes out. With Amazon selling the complete TNG on DVD for $140.69 (a lot more seasons than the original series), if they have a decent price for the Blu-rays, I just may buy it!

Got this even though I already owned season 1. This is nearly the lowest this set has ever been.

Wow, great price. I guess they've been around long enough their are not moving as fast as they used too. Not to mention they were ridiculously over priced.

They look amazing good. I for one, oddly, like the dated, original effects better.
Those digitally updated ones are just a little too nice and new for me.

What I’d give for a really accurate release of the series on home video. Great picture, the option of the actual mono broadcast tracks (what they provide isn’t it), plus the network promos and sponsor billboards. Had they done this like Image did Twilight Zone, it would be the perfect set. But nope. We have yet to see Star Trek presented on video as it was originally aired. Grumble grumble…

I'm confused by some of the Amazon reviews. Are these episodes UNCUT or not?

Amazon reviews for movies are utterly a mess, because they compound DVD and Blu Ray reviews under one product name, so you have to skim through the comments to see if they are talking about the DVD or the Blu Ray. You are better off reading digitalbits or bluray.com

Thanks for the info.

Yes, I had made that same point (about how Amazon will port over the reviews for an earlier format to the newer ones) elsewhere here at FSM. It's very frustrating and I wish that Amazon would make an effort to correct it -- but it must be confusing for them and they may not have the capability of distinguishing between, say, customer reviews of DVDs and Blu-rays. Heck, I've even come across reviews for the VHS version tacked on to some for Blu-rays!

But yes, the BD prints of the episodes are indeed uncut. The only real “cuts” in DVDs are waaaay back in the original single volume releases in 2000. The Tholian Web was missing the tail end of a scene and the Doomsday Machine was missing a little library music. The season sets corrected both of those errors and there are no scenes missing.

The only dialog missing on the Blu-ray sets, to my knowledge, is one line in the restored version of The Cage, where Pike refers to Vina as “a wild little animal.” It is, however, present in The Menagerie Part 2.

There are plenty of audio errors as far as music and sound effects, but most people won’t care about those.

These must be selling like hotcakes at $60 dollars! Amazon says out of stock but ordering more.

First, regrets, as I didn't think about the implications of resurrecting a time sensitive, sale price thread; OP's bargain is no longer in play...but an additional 13 bucks would get you there...

And Now: Are the broadcast tracks just downmixes of the new surround tracks? How do they differ?

Are any of the reported music and effect errors in the newer mixes remedied by sticking with the "original" audio?

Thanks,

Coop
