"Original Song Score and Adaptation: The Great Gatsby – Adaptation Score by Nelson Riddle "

That's the ticket IMHO.

Ford A. Thaxton

Very possibly but (hopefully) it's gonna be an expanded version of THE RIGHT STUFF, just in time for its 30th anniversary...

Not a chance in hell.

Try again..

The price for Beastmaster is €21.95. What would that be in US dollars? (I've never ordered from Quartet before, so I don't recognize the € symbol.)

€ = Euro, the currency in 17 European countries. The shipping costs to the US are € 9,- which is about $ 12.30. € 21.95 is about $ 30.00. So in total you have to pay about 42 dollars to get the CD. I think you can better order the CD at Screen Archives.

Here are the best score winners from that period, per Wikipedia. I think we can count out The Omen (I believe Varese's is complete?), Star Wars (bc it's Star Wars) and The Little Mermaid (Disney). While I would like it to be Jaws, I'm not sure it would qualify as an "expansion" since really all it needs, as far as I know, is a cleanup.

1970
Original Score: Love Story – Francis Lai

1971
Original Dramatic Score: Summer of '42 – Michel Legrand
Original Song Score and Adaptation: Fiddler on the Roof – Adaptation Score by John Williams

1972
Original Dramatic Score: Limelight – Charlie Chaplin, Raymond Rasch (posthumous award), Larry Russell (posthumous award) (Note: This film was originally screened in 1952, but it was not shown in Los Angeles until 1972, at which point it become eligible for this nomination)
Original Song Score and Adaptation: Cabaret – Adaptation Score by Ralph Burns

1973
Original Dramatic Score: The Way We Were – Marvin Hamlisch
Original Song Score and Adaptation: The Sting – Adaptation Score by Marvin Hamlisch

The LP and CD of "Summer of '42" contains only 2 tracks of the theme. The rest of the album is "The Picasso Suite" from "Picasso Summer". That theme received the song treatment and is titled "Summer Me, Winter Me".
I haven't seen "'42" in years but I don't recall there being a lot of music in it.

1974
Original Dramatic Score: The Godfather Part II – Nino Rota, Carmine Coppola
Original Song Score and Adaptation: The Great Gatsby – Adaptation Score by Nelson Riddle

1975
Original Dramatic Score: Jaws – John Williams
Original Song Score and Adaptation: Barry Lyndon – Adaptation Score by Leonard Rosenman

1976
Original Score: The Omen – Jerry Goldsmith
Original Song Score and Its Adaptation or Adaptation Score: Bound for Glory – Adaptation Score by Leonard Rosenman

1977
Original Score: Star Wars – John Williams
Original Song Score and Its Adaptation or Adaptation Score: A Little Night Music – Adaptation Score by Jonathan Tunick

1978
Original Score: Midnight Express – Giorgio Moroder
Adaptation Score: The Buddy Holly Story – Joe Renzetti

1979
Original Score: A Little Romance – Georges Delerue
Original Song Score and Its Adaptation or Adaptation Score: All That Jazz – Adaptation Score by Ralph Burns

1980: Fame – Michael Gore

1981: Chariots of Fire – Vangelis

1982
Original Score: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial – John Williams

1983
Original Score: The Right Stuff – Bill Conti
Original Song Score or Adaptation Score: Yentl – Song Score by Michel Legrand, Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman

1984
Original Score: A Passage to India – Maurice Jarre
Original Song Score: Purple Rain – Prince

1985: Out of Africa – John Barry

1986: Round Midnight – Herbie Hancock

1987: The Last Emperor – Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Byrne, Cong Su

1988: The Milagro Beanfield War – Dave Grusin

1989: The Little Mermaid – Alan Menken

My bet is on A PASSAGE TO INDIA as the Oscar winning score...
It would be terrific to finally get DRACULA original tracks and remaster of the previous album... which would require 2CDs actually but only the film tracks would be a dream come true - and would fit both 70s title mentioned as well as "a classy score" clue.
No idea about the epic 2CD score.... since it probably leaves 80s as its period of origin.

The complete score masters for A PASSAGE TO INDIA and trove of its source music lie in possession of James Fitzpatrick. Its being held due to licensing issues and if it happens it will most likely be on James' Tadlow label. Lets hope that it happens someday soon. smile

I know of that of course. But it wouldn't be the first album on Quartet James Fitzpatrick was involved in.

Good Point Lokutus-since it did turn out to be the Oscar Winning Jarre score. I managed to order my copy of it ofcourse but now the terrible wait to get it is going to be rather fetching.
