Will see my third DM concert tomorrow, in Oslo. Saw them in 2001 and 2006 also.

Has anyone here seen them on their current Delta Machine Tour?

Any DM-fans here?

A friend of mine is a huge fan of them, he has played 'exciter' a lot on road trips. Liked 'dream on' and 'I feel loved'. I understand that the singer has done solo projects as well? I haven't heard the new album yet.

You won't believe this, but... I'm something of a Depeche Mode fan myself. I saw them perform live at Red Rocks (near Boulder, Colorado) in the early 90s, and have a number of their albums. I am fondest of their early songs, but from what I've heard of them lately, it doesn't seem that they've changed a whole lot from those days. Sorry, I haven't seen their new show. I'll watch here to see what others have to say about it. I really liked their rockumentary "101" which featured a great live performance at the Pasadena Rose Bowl and an absolutely killer cover of "Route 66."

I can't call myself a fan (whereas my collection of Pet Shop Boys music is huge), but I love several of their hits, especially "Get the Balance Right," "Master and Servant," "But Not Tonight," "Never Let Me Down Again," "Strangelove" and "Enjoy the Silence" (particularly the Mike Shinoda Reinterpreted mix).

I clearly need to listen to more post-Violator albums of theirs. Any recommendations of their finest studio albums of the past 20 years?

"Songs of Faith and Devotion" -- I think it's their finest album.

In fact, this album contains my favorite song of theirs -- and one of my favorite songs ever written. After all these years loving the song to pieces (almost 20 years now) it still is one of the most passionate, powerful, soulful, stirring songs I've ever heard in my time. It's called "In Your Room."

Love Depeche Mode.

back in 1980 i went to stay with a mate in Basildon - his girlfriend had a sister!!
He had a copy of the latest NME or something that showed the top 60 singles or something and he said My mates band has just got in the charts with their first single, in at 58 or thereabouts. That single was New Life.
On the sunday we went up his local pub and there were this lot playing pool and smoking and he introduced me to them. "This in Andy, this is Dave, this is Vince, " etc. Playing pool was one of the girls and i cant remember if they introduced her as Ali or Alf.
That was Depeche mode and the girl was Alison Moyet!

Yes, he has released two solo albums. Not as strong as most DM-albums.

Yes, in a way their more recent stuff is sounding quite retro and could have been 30 years old. Not sure if that's a good thing.

"Songs Of Faith & Devotion" and "Ultra" are both very good albums.

The concert was very good, that's for sure. But as I mentioned in another thread, the highlight was when we ran into Andy Fletcher and Dave Gahan outside their hotel in Oslo. I had just bought a cheap Depeche Mode CD in a second hand store, and handed the cover over to Gahan for him to sign it, which he happily did. I also filmed it with my cell phone.

Fun!

Which popular Depeche song do you like from their 80's output?

Just Can't Get Enough
Get the Balance Right
Everything Counts
People are People
Master and Servant
Shake The Disease
It's Called a Heart
A Question of Time

Among the ones you mentioned, I would choose Everything Counts, Master And Servant, Shake The Disease and A Question Of Time. I can't stand Just Can't Get Enough.

Other (bigger) 80s hits for me are Never Let Me Down Again, The Things You Said, Strangelove, Sacred, Behind The Wheel, Nothing, Black Celebration, Stripped and Blasphemous Rumours,
