MONDAY, DECEMBER 16

TERMINATOR: GENESIS---Emilia Clarke (GAME OF THRONES) will play Sarah Connor with Jason Clarke (ZERO DARK THIRTY) in negotiations to play John Connor. Arnold Schwarzenegger also is reportedly starring.

THE ODD COUPLE---Matthew Perry is the star/co-writer/producer of the CBS remake of the Neil Simon play. Perry will play Oscar Madison. It was made into a 1968 movie which starred Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. A 1970s ABC series starred Jack Klugman and Tony Randall.

AVATAR---James Cameron commented on the three sequels, "It's going to be a lot of new imagery and a lot of new environments and creatures across Pandora. We're blowing it out all over the place. At first I thought I was going to take it onto other worlds as well, in the same solar system, but it turned out not to be necessary. I mean the Pandora that we have imagined will be a fantasy land that is going to occupy people for decades to come, the way I see it."
Cameron also commented on rumors that the sequel will depict the underwater life on Pandora, "There's a fair bit of underwater stuff. It's been inaccurately said that the second film takes place underwater. That's not true. There are underwater scenes and surface-water scenes having to do with indigenous ocean cultures that are distributed across the three films."
He added that the sequels will concentrate on Jake Scully's "family" on Pandora, "It was very Jake-centric. His story seen through his eyes. We spread it around quite a bit more as we go forward. It's really the story of his family, the family that he creates on Pandora. His extended family. So think of it as a family saga like THE GODFATHER." Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang and Zoe Saldana return for the sequels which will be filmed in New Zealand. The budget for the sequels is $415 million.

HOMELAND---Morena Baccarin and Morgan Saylor will not be cast regulars in Season 4. Baccarin missed most of Season 3 due to her pregnancy, and Saylor's character drew intense fan anger in the previous two seasons.

FAST AND FURIOUS 7---a British tabloid reported Paul Walker's younger brother, Cody, a stuntman, may be used to substitute for him after his death, "They can shoot Cody from behind and at distance and if it's a shot they need Paul's face in close up they can CGI it later on. If Cody agrees it's because he wants to honor his brother's memory. There are many details that still need to be worked out, but right now the family and cast and crew are all still grieving."

SMOTHERED---parody horror movie directed and written by John Schneider (THE DUKES OF HAZZARD) in which actors who played masked serial killers are paid $1,000 to haunt an RV park and are then killed off one by one by a big-breasted blonde. Kane Hodder (FRIDAY THE 13TH), Don Shanks (HALLOWEEN 5), RA Mihailoff (LEATHERFACE: TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE III), Bill Moseley (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2) and Brea Grant (ROB ZOMBIE'S HALLOWEEN) star.

TRIPLE NINE---heist movie underway in which a gang of thieves plot to kill a Los Angeles policeman as a diversion to their heist job on the other side of the city. Cate Blanchett and Christoph Waltz star with Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael B Jordan in talks to co-star.

BOURNE---director Paul Greengrass commented on returning with Matt Damon to the franchise, "I can’t speak for Matt, but I agonized for a long period of time about it. In the end I felt I had given it my all in two films I’m very proud of and didn’t want to make another if I didn’t believe it could be as good if not better. I discovered in my heart I didn't have another one in me..."

12 MONKEYS---Terry Gilliam commented on the Syfy tv remake of his 1996 movie that starred Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe and Brad Pitt, "No, I know nothing about that except what I read in the papers, I have no control, I get no money. I think it’s a really bad idea frankly, particularly because I thought we did a very good film. I thought the script was wonderful, Chris Marker was very happy with 12 MONKEYS since it was inspired by "LA JETEE, and I think the series will have nothing to do with that."

OUIJA--Matthew Settle (BAND OF BROTHERS, INTO THE WEST) has joined the cast of the movie based on the Hasbro game.

SIX YEARS---Jonathan W. Stokes will write the script for the movie based on the novel with Hugh Jackman attached to star. The plot involves a college professor who attends the funeral of his ex-wife's husband and discovers the widow is not his ex-wife.

ONCE UPON A TIME---Rebecca Mader (LOST) will play the Wicked Witch of the West.

THE GALLIPOLI STORY---four-hour Australian miniseries underway with Sam Worthington as star/producer. The plot involves the failed World War I British, Australian and New Zealand amphibious invasion at Gallipoli, Turkey in order to seize Constantinople. It will premiere in 2015, the 100th anniversary of the invasion and will be marketed internationally as two 90-minute tv movies. Michael Rymer (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, AMERICAN HORROR STORY) is the director.

All four of which are funnier in their sleep than Matthew Perry (Friends excepted, he was good there).

Well, if they essentially take out the wife and the daughter of the character supposedly just killed off (actor Damian Lewis), one can't help but believe that he DID die from that hanging in the last episode of the current season. I, frankly, had thought that it was going to turn out that they just made it SEEM that he had died, and that he would make it back to help raise his new child. But from all I've read, that now seems to be unlikely.
