There's probably about 900 U.S. soundtrack LPs that haven't been released on CD.
And most of those are by Kenyon Hopkins!
Or Frank Skinner...

For US Cinema, I was under the impression that only about 100 of them are from composers with at least a few releases on CD, and that includes Hopkins for which I think 2-3 CDs, although not complete soundtracks, are available. For the major composers, e.g. with at least 10 soundtracks on speciality labels, the number of unreleased LP is fairly low (a few Bernstein, Mancini, etc).
I'm not sure how much there is from composers with nothing on CD, or from musicals and various artists, but 900 seems a bit high.

You are correct that the 900 figure includes all soundtrack LPs, not just instrumental scores from major composers. But judge for yourself. Here's the complete list:

On your master list of LP's not available on CD, you list "Tre Nel 1000". This was released by Cometa (Italy) in 2010 (CMT 10008)!
Also, after "The Touchables" you state that this is available as a download only. I got very excited and searched the web trying to locate the album. Tried iTunes, Amazon and quite a few other sites to no avail. Can you please let me know where I can possibly download this soundtrack, one of my holy grails!

Thanks for the info on "Tre Nel Mille." I'll make the notation on the list.
Sadly, the availability of downloads comes and goes, particularly those of third party providers who most likely don't really have a license to offer such downloads. About 18 months ago, I added notations for downloads that I saw on Amazon (U.S.) for a number of LPs on the list. I suspected at that time that many of those downloads were not being offered by the legitimate rights holders. In spot checking a number of them during the past week, I notice that about half of those downloads have disappeared from Amazon. I didn't check THE TOUCHABLES, but apparently that's another one of them. I'll correct the list.
Here's an example of what's happening. The 1960 Colpix LP for the filmed Chopin biopic SONG WITHOUT END currently has no fewer than four full downloads available on Amazon. They are by outfits calling themselves Master Classics Records, Stage Door Records, and Hallmark (which has two of them). I doubt any of these outfits has a license to offer that LP, which is likely owned by Warner Bros. They are possibly European-based outfits offering the download under the 50-year European copyright rule. THE TOUCHABLES, being from 1967, was not under the 50-year rule (and will not be covered under the new 75-year rule for a long time). Someone may have noticed that it wasn't so covered and had it pulled down.
Here's another example. I had listed a download for the RCA LP THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD. In rechecking, if you call up the Amazon page for the LP and scroll down, under "Product Details" you will find a link for "MP3 Music." But click on that link now and you will find that it is no longer active. Another download (probably never authorized by Sony) has disappeared.
