Saw the trailer for this before BOOK THIEF last night. It was the first I've heard of it, but it looked promising. Johnny Depp going all V'Ger/Source Code when he's hooked up to some machinery.

Between the release date and the trailer, this movie just screams disappointment. It gives me the same feeling as something like The Lawnmower Man, for some reason.

Between the release date and the trailer, this movie just screams disappointment. It gives me the same feeling as something like The Lawnmower Man, for some reason. LOL, I thought the same thing, also there must be a ton of outer limits, star trek, x-files ... episodes that used the same premise. Not sure why this got made in the first place, but since these types of movies hardly get made anymore, who knows, might still be fun.

The samples sound very low key, broodingly atmospheric - not at all the kind of blockbuster-score that a "Lawnmower Man"-kind of film would provoke. I think the trailer looks much more intelligent and interesting. And the samples I like, too.

"Very oppressively atmospheric...both nonchalant and scathingly emotional at the same time." Please put that on the album's sticker.

I can see why this film flopped (and badly it appears...it cost 100 mill and will make back barely half of that). The premise is fine and the opening 30 minutes or so were quite engrossing, but as the film progressed, boredom set in for me as the film became sillier and less involving. It also seemed that the final hour just repeated the same scenes over and over. It all looked very good (lots of slo-mo water droplets) and Danna supplied some nice choir moments amongst the standard modern throb/groove we've grown accustomed to. But ultimately, this was one major let-down for me, despite my almost willing to like it for what it wasn't (Marvel/Avengers/Spiderman/LOTR/same old/same old).
