Tom Selleck plays a laid-back small town police chief (Jesse Stone) in Paradise. a fictional New England town, in this series based on the late Robert B. Parker novels. A recovering alcoholic, Jesse deals with his divorce, local crime, small time politics and interacts with the nearby Irish mob boss. Supporting cast is excellent.
I have seen all of these individually and highly recommend the set. Great stories. Nice scoring by Jeff Beal as well.

While the last two were only so-so, this is still one of my favorite ongoing film series.

Unfortunately, it appears to be over, at least for now. The last one was in 2012 and CBS has not ordered any more since. Apparently, the last few were only made because Tom Selleck invested his own money in order to finance them. However, Selleck has stated his continued interest in the character and hopes that the series can continue in some way, even if it means taking it to cable.

Yeah, and the last couple www not based on the books either. So, it's not hard to see why they went down hill.

The funny thing is, though, the last movie was very successful and garnered around 13 million viewers! You'd think CBS would be eager to make more with those kinds of ratings.

These are wonderful, character-based movies well worth the time to watch (repeatedly). These are the prototypical anti-Bay styled movies and, from a musical perspective, Beal's scores are simply wonderful. If I didn't already have the entire set, I'd jump on this deal in a heartbeat!!
