Yes, being a die-hard New Yorker I enjoyed Bob's entertainment past decades. To me, Bob was the clean-up hitter for 770 WABC's great local hosts line-up overseen then by Program Director John Mainelli.
Remember the play of Rocky's Theme during commercial breaks? "Ok, Round 3 of The Bob Grant Show, let's be heard!"
Although at times a funny agitator as much, say, Morton Downey Jr. on TV (then) Bob backed-up his shtick with intellect. He was a fan of American and World History. When he had the facts on his side I applauded his being a straight shooter to the callers - despite his many critics.
And if anyone posts here denouncing him I wouldn't mind at all, as Bob knew that it didn't matter if listeners loved or hated him. He made his point of getting your attention, stating what's on his mind, then "What's on your mind?" - again, in an entertaining way.
The New York Radio Message Board currently has many deservedly tributes posted for Bob. I bookmarked that site and visit it often as much as this one due to my interest in WABC & WMCA Radio music airchecks from the 60's.

And of course, Thanks Bob for the memories.

Rush said a little farewell to him on his show today, too. I imagine Levin (as I recall a big Bob fan as well), will when he's back on January 6.
