FRIDAY, JANUARY 3

THE WALKING DEAD---new poster released for the return of Season 4 on February 9 which introduces three characters from the comic book: Abraham, Eugene and Rosita; and a original character, Gareth.
Also, David Morrissey commented on if The Governor will return after being killed off, "I feel like a shady politician where I can't confirm and I can't deny anything. Certainly, bad things befell him at the end of the last episode but we just have to wait and see."

THE AVENGERS---Robert Downey, Jr. is reportedly using his considerable influence in getting Marvel Studios to use his friend Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster in future THE AVENGERS movies. A source said, "Robert is raising eyebrows with his efforts on behalf of his longtime best pals Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson. He wants to bring Mel and Jodie into the Marvel universe, preferably in one of the Avengers films. It’s been a longtime dream of Robert’s to help Mel and Jodie reach similar big box office heights like the ones he’s achieved in recent years."

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER---new photos released of Chris Evans, Robert Redford and Scarlett Johansson.

AGENT CARTER--- British tabloid reports the ABC spin-off tv series is underway starring Hayley Atwell, "This is a massive deal for both Hayley and Marvel comic fans. It's Marvel's major project of 2014, and it will be a big budget production. Hayley is absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity and is incredibly grateful to Marvel fans who have basically been campaigning for a spin-off show for the past six months. It means moving to LA for six months but her friends and family are all behind her, and this is a huge opportunity."

VERONICA MARS---movie trailer released with a March 14 premiere.

BREAKING BAD---creator Vince Gilligan commented on the BETTER CALL SAUL spin-off series, "This show will be a prequel, but the wonderful thing about the fractured chronology we employed on Breaking Bad for many years is the audience will not be thrown by us jumping around in time. So it’s possible that we may indeed do that, and we’ll see the past and perhaps the future." He added that he wants one character to return, "The character that springs to mind would be Mike (Jonathan Banks). That would be a great deal of fun. I would say the sky’s the limit, at least theoretically speaking."

GREEN LANTERN---Dwayne Johnson said he's in talks to appear in an undisclosed DC Comics movie. One source said the character is Green Lantern/John Stewart in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN.

Great news if true. Phase II has been a pretty big disappointment so far, and this is the best news out of the Marvelverse in quite some time.

If this report is true, then my opinion of the man has gone up, yes Mel has shot himself in the foot so many times it's not funny, but let's be honest so did Mr. Downey Jr., he was at ROCK BOTTOM before cleaning up his act so I understand wanting to help a friend who has hurt himself.

Also, Gibson whatever his personal issues are is still a very talented action and director.

As for Jodie Foster, she deserves to be in a big movie and make serious $$$$ it also would introduce her to a whole new Generation.

Veronica Mars: Really looking forward to that. (Glad I backed it on KS)

Agent Carter: Please please please let it be true.

RDJ: I'm with Ford. I think its great for him to try and help them. Hopefully it won't burn any bridges at Marvel though. Jodie Foster is a great actress and director and she really needs more exposure.

I'm also with Ford on both of these actors. It seems equality is something people like to yell for... except when it comes to forgiveness.

Indeed...and easy for the younger ones who flock to these movies to not know just how much of an action star Gibson was...and ditto about RDJ - anyone in any doubt how low you can go and still succeed need only look at his bio.

Mel Gibson has dome some pretty weird and offensive things in his latter years. But in that way he is not so different from many many other people who make mistakes, form an addiction, go through relationship trouble.

The main difference is that Gibson lives under the scrutiny of the public eye!

I'd hate for some of my break up stuff to be covered in newspapers and news shows.

Gibson has paid his dues. I'd love to see him in the Marvel films. Maybe another senior agent of Shield....

Wow, you all put up with anything. Gibson is a slimeball. He made no mistakes, it's who he is. And will never get another cent from me. RDJ made mistakes that mostly affected himself only, and got his act together.

Gibson made some stupid and racist comments about Jews and make a very horrible phonecall to an ex, probably out of sheer frustration.

How is that worse then being a drug addict?
Drug addiction doesn't affect your family, those who love you?

It seems to me RDJ was a good person gone bad, while Gibson was a bad person who was outed.
I've only heard superficial information about their personal issues, I don't read up on this stuff, just what the media pushes in my face. So my perception of them could be skewed based on incomplete information.

I think we ought to worry about more important matters.

For one, what the hell did they do to Scarlett's hair?! Pyew!

Remember, a decade ago, Downey was a freshly-minted rehab escapee whose biggest gigs were a handful of episodes of Ally McBeal and a remake of The Shaggy Dog, and now he's one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Mel Gibson could certainly use a hand getting back to his 80's and 90's box office prime, and if that means playing second fiddle in an Avengers sequel, so be it...I've missed seeing that crazy bastard in movies.

Wow, there mustn't be any broken windows in that glass house you live in. You've never done something you regretted, when you were depressed or drunk or at the end of a cherished relationship. Good for you.

Presumably if you consider Gibson an irredeemable slime ball, you also boycott films by Roman Polanski (convicted child rapist who still has not served his sentence due to absconding the jurisdiction), books by Charles Dickens (who publicly humiliated his own wife), anything starring Alec Baldwin (who left offensive and threatening voice mails on his daughter's voicemail), or Sean Penn (who beat up his own wife, Madonna), the music of Eric Clapton (who, when drunk, used very offensive racist comments at a concert ), anything recommended by convicted insider-trader Martha Stewart and the film music of Jerry Goldsmith, Goldsmith of course being well known for his predilection for shagging virgin goats and then eating them afterwards.

Ok so the Goldsmith thing was a joke. But the rest are all accurate and they are just the ones I know about off-hand. I'm sure the entertainment industry is full of people who are far bigger scum bags than those ive cited, but have either not been caught or their offensive behaviour / crimes have been covered up.

Yes, Gibson's drunken rants were offensive and obnoxious but it is hardly the case he has a lengthy history of such comments. Of course, it may well be that he has been anti Semitic, for example, all his life and has just hidden it. I'm sure the are millions of people in life who have extreme views on things which are very very bad but which they suppress and sometimes those things come out in a moment of weakness, drunkenness or depression, which is what happened with Gibson. It's not as if Gibson was a member of the Ku Klux Klan or denied the holocaust for goodness sake.

Personally I would love to see Gibson back on the screen and if RDJ is willing to help him then darn good for him I say.

Geez, how did this become about me? I never said I was perfect. And if I did things that were socially unexpectable I shouldn't get anymore slack than the next person. As far as all the examples you brought forth, well some I agree with others I don't. We all live by our own moral standards. I loved early Gibson and his films, Gallipoli, Mad Max, Lethal Weapon, The Bounty, etc. His rants later in life just turned me off. Simple as that. Maybe it's unfair, but it's how it is. smile
