Sorry Advise & Consent, but I have to agree with Sirusjr.

I've owned the Columbia LP of THE YOUNG SAVAGES since about 1990.

Of the 2 LP albums released during the 1960s [THE ARRANGEMENT is the other one (from 1969)] written by David Amram, THE YOUNG SAVAGES contains the more satisfying dramatic music.

If younger/newer collectors have difficulty getting into jazzy idioms and/or chamber ensembles (in contrast to the symphonic approach which is much more the "norm" with soundtrack collectors), then I can only imagine they'd dislike THE ARRANGEMENT even more so than THE YOUNG SAVAGES. smile

I plan to eventually acquire this CD, but not until after I slowly attain the titles from 2012 and 2013 that are still on my wishlist.

most of the time you need to acquire a taste for music styles (and the content itself). If someone hasnt seen the relevant movies (Manchurian Candidate, Young Savages), and/or doesnt like Leonard Rosenman scores, then I can see the hesitation in appreciating this score.

The music is good for an album. It's on my purchase list.
The sherry on top of the cake is the tracklisting cover that you can download on the site.
Too bad, they didn't mention who wrote the notes.

Wish I had frown
