After getting an Academy Award nomination I am very interested on listening to this score.

I can see there is no soundtrack released at the moment and there is no company behind to do it. I've decided to create this topic to get more info about this music.

Thanks!

Saw the movie yesterday and thought the score was excellent (it's also quite substantial, some of the cues running four or more minutes). Owen Pallett, for a while known as the one man band Final Fantasy, is one of my favorite musicians (singer, multi-instrumentalist par excellence, composer/arranger/orchestrator) and I'm glad he was able to share the nomination with Arcade Fire's William Butler (I assume Butler is the band's principal songwriter as he and Pallett are the only two people named in the nomination).

Why?

Does Arcade Fire prohibit this because they have a new album (last October) out?

Any insane rights holder who has fun withholding this?

I think it was the same reason why their Herrmann-esque score for The Box was withheld from release. The label didn't want it "competing" with their actual album. Goofy.

A shame too, I loved the score for The Box!

Is there any news on this? It's double nominee, it has to get release

Fantastic score, works very well within the confines of the film. If I were an AMPAS member it would get my vote if Thomas Newman wasn't in the running (as I think he's way overdue for awards recognition).

What he said.

The electronics used in the score totally killed it for me. I couldn't make it past the first few tracks. YMMV. It was about what I expected considering the source.

Their music hasn't really been heavy on electronics at all until this new album (recorded roughly at the same time as this score), so I don't know how you expected that sound.

You may have stopped the album (or whatever) too early, as it gets better (piano!), but I still don't think it's exactly Oscar-worthy.

I love the flurry of strings at the opening of "Empty Room" from The Suburbs, in particular.
