I think the clue implies that the composer is still alive though anything by Roubaix would be great.

Yes, i've just realized the clues in the english text are more explicit : i thought it was same text.

Could there be anything from the 50s or 60s this time around?

My money is on Georges Garvarentz and Denis de la Patellière. Du Rififi à Paname, a heist film starring Jean Gabin, would make a wonderful release.

It's probably HOLD-UP (heist movie with Belmondo) coupled with LE DERNIER ÉTÉ À TANGER (romantic drama) - both scores by Serge Franklin were formerly on LP and both movies were directed by Alexandre Arcady.

DU RIFIFI was never on LP and only on a Barclay EP during the 60s.

I'm not familiar with Tanger. It was released on LP?

I do have fond memories of Hold-Up, a fun Belmondo caper filmed in my hometown of Montreal, and later sort of (badly) remade as Quick Change.

I think you got it and it's certainly a release I would consider acquiring.

Yes, of course it was in 1987:

It's a long time ago that I have seen parts of the film. As far as I remember, there were some nice romantic tracks with an exotic touch in it, but I would not say it's one of the best Franklins. HOLD-UP was a quite funky mid-80s crime score.

Sounds like an instant but for me.

Could it be a SARDE?

Could it be a SARDE?

There have been no Sarde on Music Box Records.

Could it be a SARDE?

Alas, none have been released on the Music Box label so far. However, I'm confident that it is only a matter of time as Sarde is probably one of the (or even the) top French film composers of all time having scored over 200 pictures.

A reply from Music Box Records on the French Underscores Forum in October 2013 as to why Sarde has not (yet) been featured on their label:

"Si Philippe Sarde ne fait pas encore partie de notre catalogue (ainsi que d'autres compositeurs souvent cités sur ce forum), cela n'est pas dû à de la mauvaise volonté de notre part. Bien au contraire.
Cependant, plusieurs facteurs rentrent en jeu. Certains compositeurs ne veulent pas voir leurs musiques éditer en CD. D'autres sont "la chasse gardée" de certains éditeurs... à notre plus grand regret.
Nous espérons qu'un jour cela évoluera..."

A release of Twins would be nice. I'm sure he wrote a lot more than what ended up in the film. The Main Title is gorgeous.

I second TWINS- I was so disappointed when in a record store decades ago I saw the LP for TWINS and all there was on the album was songs

Too bad it's Universal which seems like the most difficult of the studios to release music.
