I tried to bump an existing thread on this album, but because the board is broken, the thread did not get bumped to the top of the list.
I just picked up this album but have not had a chance to spin it yet. I never heard of this guy. It looks like a spy album, plus it has Dusty, and is in pristine condition, so how could I go wrong for $4.99?
Curious to hear anyone's thoughts on this record, if you've ever heard it, and hear more about Georges Gavarentz.
The Corrupt Ones had a CD release by Music Box Records which contains the album program and a few extra cues that accidentally came to light during the production of the CD. It also has music from another awesome Garvarentz score Killer Force. The only problem is that it's out-of-print...
Music Box re-released this last year, coupled with Killer Force. I didn't know this composer either. I purchased it based on the audio samples available at the time. I only listened to it a handful of times. Killer Force has a nice 70s sound. I need to listen to it again. Don't remember The Corrupt Ones that well. Great song by Dusty Springfield though. The MBR release was limited to only 500 copies, so copies still available will be very few, and probably expensive.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this 1960s "Spy-Boom" main title ballad! It kicks butt all over the lobby, out into the street, and all the way down to the Police Station where it turns itself in for brutally kicking so much butt! The score has other delights, mostly highly entertaining variations of the magnificent ballad. Dusty Springfield was a major Diva of the 60s adult-pop scene and she most certainly works her magic for this song. And even the lyrics are superb: "Here in this town of dirt and greed, playground where devils play - here where I had the bad bad luck to be born - here I must stay!" Other things to look for by Garvarentz: KILLER FORCE (on the Music Box CD with THE CORRUPT ONES) / THEY CAME TO ROB LAS VEGAS - a top-notch Barry-style score with a clutch of magnificent cues (including the legendary "The Wordless Song" / TRIPLE CROSS (on LP) / LE TEMPS DES LOUPS (a four-cut French EP is easier to find than the super rare LP). When Garvarentz was good he was as good as the best!
I spun side 1 last night. Really cool, atmospheric stuff. And one track has theremin!

I own a mono UA LP of this, and the electronic instrument heard on several of the tracks in THE CORRUPT ONES is an Ondes Martenot (at least according to my memory and my ears).
Initially, I was unsure of this recording was made in England or France, but I think it's almost a certainty that Georges Garvarentz recorded in France.
This is the way I prefer the Ondes Martenot to sound - that is, to be performed by French girls and recorded between 1940s and the 1970s (and not during or after the 1980s).

Yes, you may be right. The difference between the two in many settings is a practical difference rather than a sonic or aesthetic difference. A square wave is a square wave!
My copy of this LP is stereo, but most of the orchestral tracks on side 1, including the Dusty track, are in mono or only mildly rechanneled stereo. The source track on side 1 is in stereo.
But side 2 is mostly or all stereo, including the orchestral and source tracks.
