The "shoot" was held in Mark McKenzie's living room, and occupied some three hours. All of the participants...Lee Holdridge, Mark McKenzie, Pat Russ, and Gregg Nestor...gave graciously and generously of their time. Lee was in the midst of packing for a recording session in Italy, and drove to Mark's home (an hour drive) in order to keep a promise and appear in the film. It was an afternoon of sheer joy, and one that I shall never forget.

The title of the documentary has quotation marks around the word "Saved." It isn't my title but, rather, the title that the film makers have chosen...indicating saving and preserving the memories and images that the composers, directors, actors, and technicians have created over a generous lifetime of creative endeavor.

What can I tell you, Thor. I am the subject of the documentary. It's about my life, and the creative artists with whom I've interacted over the last half century. I've been writing about films, film makers, and film music in a variety of books, magazines, journals, tabloids and on the internet since 1969. Some documentary film makers looked me up, and decided that they wanted to make a film about me. Having said that...it isn't just about me but really more about the gifted creative artists that I've been fortunate enough to come to know since 1961, It's their story as much as it is my own. Folks like Lee Holdridge, Mark McKenzie, Juliet Rozsa, Veronica Carlson, Philippe Mora, and Paul Clemens have been kind enough to sit down in front of the cameras to talk about their work, and about our enduring friendships, for the director. The finished film should be ready for festival competition in the Fall. Hopefully, the completed documentary will speak for itself.

I appreciate your interest, Thor. No, I'm not the director of the film. That distinction goes to a very gifted writer and filmmaker by the name of Craig Jamison. Craig is not only a wonderful creative artist in his own right, but a very knowledgeable fan of motion picture music and history. When we finished shooting at Mark McKenzie's home this past August with Lee Holdridge, Pat Russ, and Gregg Nestor (not to mention Mark, of course), Craig had stars in his eyes and described the afternoon as the most exciting day of his life. I'd be hard put to disagree. If you check the other links at his You Tube and Facebook pages, you'll see some of this talented gentleman's writing.
