This is a must buy for me. I've also been wanting to see the film for a long time, but it's only available on a hard-to-find 1985 cassette. The film was produced by Melvin Simon Productions. Along with his brother, Mel Simon founded the Simon Property Group, which eventually became the biggest shopping mall operator in America, and made Simon a billionaire. Along the way, he diversified into sports, buying the Indiana Pacers basketball franchise, and motion picture production, producing about 16 films between 1978 and 1985, many of them distributed by 20th Century Fox. Most of the films were not successful, and Simon lost millions. Simon Productions held on to the rights of most of the films it made, and only a few have made it on to DVD. I believe that Viacom now holds the rights to most of the Simon films.

If you can stand a poorer quality Youtube load, here at the first 15 minutes of the film:

A chance for those here who needs to hear the score in context, to hear some of the score in context.

Wonderful news for me.

I hope you enjoy the finished product.

Ernest Gold was a very talented composer who sadly isn't as well represented as he should be on CD.

This release corrects on major item.

Took me a year but finally acquired this. It's a beautifully realized old fashion score- meant in a positive way of course. The Runner Stumbles Main Title is just so sweet and lovely. The whole score is like a delicate waltz. Hopefully others will discover this for the first time and add it to their collection while it's available. It's amazing we get obscure titles like this today. A forgotten holy grail.

Edit: Well sadly it appears the film itself hasn't been available since VHS days.

Believe it or not, I saw this film in a theater in MIlwaukee... if I remember correctly, It lasted a week and was gone. I was also lucky enough to find a limited pressing of the soundtrack on lp which looked to me like it was a very limited thing for the composer or strictly for promotion.
Always liked the film and the score. Moving and very sad.
