ROSWELL, eh?

I'm intrigued. I've had the original score on a boot for many years, but this seems to be a rerecording. The original score did have synth elements, of course, but also some crucial acoustic elements. If this is just a cheap synth rerecording, it's a bit disappointing.

I'm a bit trepidatious (is that a word?), but willing to give it a chance.

Edit: the sound clips DO seem to indicate it's a mix of both.

Guess I'll stick to the boot.

Damn -- for a second I thought both of these (which I have both wanted for ages, especially Zavod's unreleased COMMUNION score) were actually getting releases frown

To be fair, ROSWELL isn't that remarkable a score, but it's an unreleased Goldenthal, so that's an attraction right there. I'm also disappointed that it's a rerecording and not the original, but maybe the original masters are lost?

There are still two good handfuls of Goldenthal scores left unreleased:

I believe Goldenthal only did Roswell as a favor to someone he knew on the production. The unmentionable of ROSWELL sounded good, sound quality wise.

I don't recall either scores having live players, so rerecording both isn't really a big problem for me.

There are definitely live players on ROSWELL, as far as I can tell, but not that many.

Listening to youtube clips of Roswell and you can definitely hear early AlienĀ³ in it, but it sounds very low budget tv scoring and as much as I like Goldenthal, Mark Snow he aint. As for the re-recording, better to have it than no release at all no?

It is, but I'm not throwing away my boot just yet (whose sound quality is fine, btw).

ROSWELL did use a very soloists, which we did as well on this recording, Brandon K. Verrett did a really masterful score on this recording.

As for COMMUNION, the only live player was the guitarist, in this case we had Steve Bartek do to the longer version of the theme.

It' a rather good and interesting project,We hope you enjoy it.

This recording is very well done. I can't compare it to the original (which I haven't heard), but this was clearly done with care, and yes, there are acoustic instruments throughout. It sounds Goldenthal-y to my ears. More importantly, I like it!

From the iTunes samples this does sound better than the original Goldenthal synth recording. Will definitely pick this release up soon just for that.

It's been out for awhile now, any one else give it a spin yet?

If you haven't picked it up, here is a YOUTUBE video that my business partner Mark Banning put together using a suite of music from ROSWELL:
