Music from the Motion Picture Scores Roswell: The UFO Cover-Up / Communion Music by Elliot Goldenthal and Eric Clapton Performed by Brandon K. Verrett, Dominik Hauser and Steve Bartek
I'm intrigued. I've had the original score on a boot for many years, but this seems to be a rerecording. The original score did have synth elements, of course, but also some crucial acoustic elements. If this is just a cheap synth rerecording, it's a bit disappointing.
I'm a bit trepidatious (is that a word?), but willing to give it a chance.
Edit: the sound clips DO seem to indicate it's a mix of both.
Damn -- for a second I thought both of these (which I have both wanted for ages, especially Zavod's unreleased COMMUNION score) were actually getting releases
To be fair, ROSWELL isn't that remarkable a score, but it's an unreleased Goldenthal, so that's an attraction right there. I'm also disappointed that it's a rerecording and not the original, but maybe the original masters are lost?

Listening to youtube clips of Roswell and you can definitely hear early Alien³ in it, but it sounds very low budget tv scoring and as much as I like Goldenthal, Mark Snow he aint. As for the re-recording, better to have it than no release at all no?

It is, but I'm not throwing away my boot just yet (whose sound quality is fine, btw).

This recording is very well done. I can't compare it to the original (which I haven't heard), but this was clearly done with care, and yes, there are acoustic instruments throughout. It sounds Goldenthal-y to my ears. More importantly, I like it!
