question for Quartet :

With the reissue of Time of destiny (originally a Virgin Movie Music CD), are there other titles which could be reissued from that catalogue in the next future ? (To Kill a Priest, Glory (expanded), the last Emperor (expanded)).

This is a great great batch, Quartet - one of the best I've seen recently!

I must say I was stunned by BEAUTY AND THE BEAST! What a terrific symphonic score!...

Thanks, the Abril sounds interesting. Vintage Spanish OST are so rare!

Seconded!

If there's any possibility to release the film music by Luis DePablo, then I think Quartet would be the label that could do it! smile

DePablo is still with us (born 1930) and has quite a number of albums of his music released in the contemporary classical arena, but to my knowledge none of his film music has ever been on disc.

DePablo's THE SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE is likely his highest profile title, but I got to know DePablo via his scores for the early films directed by Carlos Saura. The Saura/DePablo collaboration would make a great compilation album, I think (THE HUNT, PEPPERMINT FRAPPE, THE GARDEN OF DELIGHTS, CRIA, etc.)

Beauty and the Beast samples sounds wonderful. Looking forward to receiving that one.

Wasn't Glory's score in the film a totally different recording, or was it just the choir that was the difference? Either way, there's not a ton of worthwhile material that was left off the album, though the "Glory Hallelujah" cue from the iso score is nice enough. Great score, despite its origins.

I urge everyone to take a chance on 'Beauty and the Beast', one of the most impressive debuts from a composer I've heard in a very long time! Adenot strikes the right balance between wonder, excitement and grandeur and a lot of detail went in to the orchestration. A lot of solo writing and a great recording by Simon Rhodes. In his liner notes the director says there are hints of Morricone and Goldsmith but I think there's Elfman in there as well and I wouldn't be surprised if the movie has been temped with Desplat. Kudos (again) to Quartet for a magnificent release. You won't regret this fellas!

Beauty And The Beast is one of the best new scores I've heard for a loooooong time! The big, symphonic score is very much alive and well.

Sadly my SAE order has still not dispatched, even though -- checking now, and thanks for reminding me -- it appears all items in that order are now in stock.

M. Adenot scores films for many years now. So, what kind of a début are you referring to?

I've discovered his music about ten years ago. He is very good.

My mistake Chris. I meant on the international scene. I had never heard of the man but I see he's done a lot of tv work in France. If this score doesn't get him more assignments, I don't know what will...This one will be in my top ten for sure.

On the Time Of Destiny has anyone else experienced a flaw at 2:16/2:17 on the opening track?

Quartet is selling Adenot's Beauty and the Beast for $3.95 right now. You will never find music this good this cheap. And if you do, tip me off, will ya?

My mistake. The flyer was from Screen Archives, not Quartet.
