THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII---Gary Oldman confirmed he's a candidate to appear in the movie, "They've called, yeah. I'm more cynical about it (casting) now, I believe it when I'm on the plane home. You know, the deal isn't done (until then). But yeah, they've inquired."





ANT-MAN---Evangeline Lilly (LOST, THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG) is in talks for an undisclosed role. Speculation is the role could be Wasp or the daughter of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and that either role could be the love interest for Ant-Man (Paul Rudd).





THE EXPENDABELLES---the plot for the spin-off movie involves a dictator who has kidnapped a top nuclear scientist and is holding him on a remote island. After a SEAL team is wiped out in a failed rescue mission, an all-female team of mercenaries is brought onto the island disguised as a group of high-class call girls to satisfy the dictator's sexual desires, but are really assigned to free the scientist. Robert Luketic (KILLERS) is the director.

REGRESSION---Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson star in this movie about a man who undergoes regression therapy to determine why he sexually molested his daughter which leads to the discovery that he's involved in a nation-wide conspiracy.

CELL---Isabelle Fuhrman (THE HUNGER GAMES) and Stacy Keach (NEBRASKA) join John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson in this movie based on the Stephen King novel.

TRIPLE NINE---Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul, Teresa Palmer, Michael B. Jordan and Michael Pena are in talks to co-star with Casey Affleck in this movie about thieves who plan to kill a Los Angeles cop as a diversion to their heist job on the other side of the city.

RED RISING---Marc Forster (WORLD WAR Z) will direct this movie based on the novel about working class rebels on Mars who attempt to overthrow the decadent ruling class.

TAKE DOWN---movie underway about the spoiled children of billionaires who are sent to a tough love camp in the wilderness. After being kidnapped and held for a billion dollar ransom, they realize they must free themselves. Jeremy Sumpter (PETER PAN) and Phoebe Tonkin (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) star.

HOUSE OF CARDS---Robin Wright confirmed the series is returning for Season 3 with filming already started.

PSYCH---USA Network canceled the series, but network head Chris McCumber hinted at a tv movie, "Somehow I don’t believe we’ve heard the last of Shawn and Gus." The last episode will air on March 26.

THE MICHAEL J. FOX SHOW---ABC will not air the remaining seven episodes which indicates the show has been canceled.

DMZ---new Syfy series underway from the producers of GRAVITY and MAD MEN based on the DC comic book about the aftermath of a second Civil War in which a young man is trapped in Manhattan which is now a demilitarized zone.

THE FLASH---Candice Patton will star as Iris West, and Carlos Valdes will play engineering genius Cisco Ramon in the CW spin-off series.

RAY DONOVAN---Hank Azaria joins the cast as the head of the FBI in Los Angeles. Sherilyn Fenn will guest star as his wife.

FAMILY THRILLER---untitled Netflix series stars Kyle Chandler and Sissy Spacek in which a family of adult siblings is affected by the arrival of their blacksheep brother.

AYANA---NBC is considering a tv series based on the Stephen King short story described as, "story is set in 1982 and follows a narrator who talks of how a blind seven-year-old girl named Ayana kissed his dying father and healed him. In return though, the narrator must repay this miracle and is called upon to do so over the years."

QUEEN OF HEARTS---Lewis Carroll biomovie underway about Carroll telling stories to Alice and her sisters, who are the daughters of an Oxford University dean, as he falls in love with the dean's wife. Seth Gordon (HORRIBLE BOSSES) is the director.

AGENT 47---remake underway of the 2007 movie HITMAN that starred Timothy Olyphant. The remake stars Rupert Friend (who replaces Paul Walker), Hannah Ware and Zachary Quinto.

LAST DAYS IN THE DESERT---Ewan McGregor, Ciaran Hinds and Tye Sheridan star in this movie about a holy man and a demon who are journeying across the desert when they encounter a family seeking to survive.

HAUNTED---Bryan Singer's movie company bought the rights to the upcoming comic book set in the future where supernatural demons, ghosts and poltergeists have conquered mankind. A young woman joins with other survivors to defeat their new masters.

MAX STEEL---movie underway based on the Mattel superhero toy starring Ben Winchell and Ana Villafane.

What all these potential Star Wars thespians need to do is leverage a more sophisticated bit of storytelling, and to do so regardless of whether or not they then ignore the 'prequels' (at least the stupid stuff).

There's already an excellent movie about Lewis Carroll, or, more correctly known by his real name, Charles Dodgson, and his relationship with Alice Liddell, called DREAMCHILD, starring Ian Holm.

But this proposed version has already begun to whitewash the issue, by introducing a possible romance with the girl's mother, which is total fiction....

Oldman was also penned as the voice of General Greivous in Episode III - but he backed out when he found out that the film was non-union. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again.

Is the film still non union now that Disney is doing it?
Isnt JJ a huge proponent of Hollywood?
