We had a really interesting prequel, which was the first outbreak of the virus, during a Thanksgiving Day parade, which was awesome. We did a really interesting prequel that [took place] later. Which was right after the first… Really right when the population of of humans became pretty decimated. And it was this sort of trek to Washington. Which included a dark seeker elephant that had broken out of the zoo."

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES---Gary Oldman commented on his character in the sequel,
"He's the sort of designated leader...of this community of those that were lucky enough to survive the simian flu, the disease, and then the ensuing social uprising from it....So they're sort of survivors, and he was a police officer, so he's more of the kind of elected leader of this (group). And they need power and there's a power station and some of my people go out to see if it's operational, if it's still out there, and then they discover that there's a whole community of apes living there. We believed they were all completely fire-bombed and wiped out...He's experienced a great loss, personally, and there's only one answer for him and that's to wipe them out. I see him as a sort of the hero of the piece."

Shame about I Am Legend, both prequel & sequel sounded interesting. I liked the film, but thought the time between the outbreak & the start of the movie, would make an even better film. Oh well.

Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock will be awesome!

I've been saying for months now that it would be cool if they cast Shipp as Barry Allen's father. I hope that's what they're doing.

That sounds . . . dumb.

I AM LEGEND 2---writer Akiva Goldsman said the sequel is dead

Didn't care for I Am Legend, so had no desire to see more of it. Would love to finally see a more faithful adaptation of the book sometime, though.

I loved I AM LEGEND, and am sorry to hear that there will be no more of that universe. I was never that big a fan of the old THE OMEGA MAN, despite a funky score.

AMEN about I Am Legend...there's still a good movie to be made there...

That idea for Nottingham....I've heard this idea somewhere before, but can't quite place it...it's not a new conept though...racking my brain a bit on that one...but yes, it sounds thoroughly stupid...

I could be wrong, but wasn't this the original concept for that Ridley Scott movie from a few years ago, before it was re-written?

How I Met Your Dad!!?!! Seriously!!! Give me a goddamn break. It was a contrived idea for a show the first time around. This is just another Hollywood cash grab. Jesus Christ.

Sounds familiar. Wasn't this one of the early storylines of Ridley Scott's Robin Hood? That was called Notttingham as well. Curious...

Thirteen hours? This isn't going to be about one of the Issa hearings?

I was never that big a fan of the old THE OMEGA MAN, despite a funky score.

"The Omega man" is a phenomenal film and Ron Grainer's score is just as good. One of the best decisions is to NOT go with the vampire element but putting the origins as a down wind side effect of the China - Russian conflict. The only difficulty I have with it is why of all countries would China pick a war with Russia? As uneasy as it may have been, it was an alliance after all.
Why everybody is going on and on about the story from the book not having been told faithfully, I don't see. The premise of people turning into vampires is the weakest element in the concept and besides, we have had more than enough vampires for the coming century by now.

Yup, all the script stuff that went on is a lot more interesting than the film turned out to be.

I had hoped they wouldn't do a sequel because the end of RISE showed how the flu spread.
NOW, i really have not interest because it looks like it will mirror the plot of WORLD WAR Z!

I still enjoy The Omega Man quite a bit, it still has some wonderfully effective bits, but some that are creaky with age.

The vampire element is still solid, as the novel dealt very well with the mundane day-by-day aspects of surviving in the vampire world. Although it was brand new at the time, it has been imitated since but nothing has matched Matheson's book. People are "going on and on" about the book since the movies have continually botched the adaptation. Last Man On Earth , The Omega Man and I Am Legend all have solid sequences, but I Am Legend may be the most disappointing. It nails some aspects, but manages to use the original title and completely miss the point of the story.

At least no one has filmed Mark Protosevich's awful script written for the proposed Schwarzenegger version. Laughably bad.

Oddly, even Matheson's own unfilmed screenplay version was a weak adaptation.

And yeah there have been a ton of vampire movies since, but how many have been good? Twilight doesn't count. Stakeland was hit and miss. 30 Days Of Night worked well. Let the Right One In was clumsy and funny ( the spinning cat lady, anyone ?) while the American remake worked much better.
