My husband and I will not be doing anything special. Though I do have two bottles of a beer called My Bloody Valentine. It is a delicious beer made for those who are unhappy on this day. We'll probably stay in and watch some TV just like any other Friday.

I will be at work for some of it, and my wife will be at work for the rest of it. So, short answer is no...a bit sad about that since whilst it is our 7th Valentines Day together, it is our first as Husband and Wife. But hey, we will just have to make up for it on our anniversary smile

TO EDWZOOMOM- Congratulations, there is nothing better in a life long relationship then to be married to your best friend and the love of your life.

Congratulations - looks like you've got it figured out!

I've taken the day off and will be spending it with Mrs TG - dropping our youngest off at school, then off for a cooked breakfast and the rest of the day is ours to do with what we will. We're relative johnny-come-latelys - only 23 years married!

Gee.....after only several months of wedded bliss you're already just an average,
boring married couple like the rest of us!!! smile smile

Congratulations on your recent marriage, by the way.

I've met both of you and you seem like an interesting and well-matched couple.
Sending you happy thoughts and best wishes for wonderful shared experiences
and memories in your future lives together.

Remember when Valentines Day was just a card with some silly rhymes on it, played out by kids?? Plus, you didn't say who it was from, it was your way of letting a girl know you fancied her (without her actually ever knowing, unless your mates grassed you up).
Like everything else, it's been taken over by THE MONEY GRABBERS and become another cynical rip-off.
But hey, it's all nice and good people get to share their love and stuff - for my missus, it's Valentines Day everyday!!! wink - Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, I love John Williams, and so do you too!!! smile

It has become
Commercial rubbish,
Plastic flowers
10p the dozen

In protest
I decided
To pluck a rose
Of the genuine kind

From my neighbour's garden.
He wasn't happy
But my wife was,
Which made it all worthwhile

Thank you dan and Tall Guy. We both took today off and will be having a wonderful, relaxed day together. 27 years ago today we began a journey that has brought joy and wonder to my life. I could not ask for a more perfect Valentine than my husband and our 2 amazing children.

Nope. This day hasn't really meant anything to me. First of all, it's only in later years that we've started to celebrate the day here in Norway (and it hasn't quite caught on yet); plus I've never been in a relationship long enough to celebrate it!

So tonight I'll be going out for a few beers with my mates.

26th Valentine's Day single. I'm pretty sure this means I suck as a man.

Meh, what else is new?

We've always been that boring wink
He couldn't even remember where he took me last year or the year before. Though we have since decided to do some cooking and stay at home to enjoy it. The crowds are insane at most restaurants anyway so it isn't worth it.

We go out to dinner plenty when it isn't a special day, and that is what is important. If Valentine's Day is the only day you get anything special you are in trouble. Plus a few weeks from now we'll be traveling together to Tokyo/Philippines for our honeymoon.

My husband and I will spend the evening together in front of the fire. We don't go to restaurants on this day; maybe next week when it's not too crowded. We'll fire up the grill (if we can find it on the deck filled with snow), and have a nice dinner. I am blessed; he is a wonderful man.

Enjoy this time with your loved ones.

big grin

I would be, too, if I'd just watched a Steve Carell movie.

Many thanks, Michael - that's really great!

Valentine's day is just pointless. As if there weren't enough holidays to spend alone - they invent one to make you aware of that.

I hope those with "more luck" are enjoying it, though...

My favorite is when friends in relationships try to explain why it is, in fact, better to be single.

Thanks. I honestly don't have a problem with Valentine's Day, but it is fun to poke a little fun at it, being single and all. smile

My favorite is when friends in relationships try to explain why it is, in fact, better to be single.

I was talking to a friend on the phone the other night, and somehow we got on the topic of relationships. He was telling me about some of his past experiences (mostly the bad). I said, jokingly in response to a couple of his stories, "Maybe it's a good thing I've been single since high school," and he goes, "You know, I gotta say, sometimes it is just better being single." LOL!
