Was looking for an existing thread on this side.
So here we are, a few episodes into latest series 5, and no mentions of anyone watching it?
In the uk, we have it shown weirdly at 2am on sunday mornings then on monday nights at 9pm.
Im assuming the 2am thing is to coincide with the u.s screening time?
Anyway, latest series so far is...pretty much of same high standard of 1-4.
There are a few d-days brewing for a few characters!

I started reading your post Bill, but stopped straight away...I'm just about to start on season 4, season 3 had a few shocks. I don't get Sky Atlantic, so it's the long wait to February for season 5. The best (& the best looking) program on the telly. I tend to look at the episodes twice now, the second time listening to the commentaries, which are usually very good.

Thats ok - i gave nothing away. You could say the same thing at the beginning of all the series so far.
I know when i saw the first three series on tv - i tried to get the dvds for my girlfriend as she loved it - but each latest series was absolutely ages before it was released.
However that said in a thread talking about a current series there will inevitably be items raised which will be SPOILERS

I'm a couple of episodes into season 5. Was very encouraged by the opening scene of the season, in which a girl Cersei seeks out a blood-witch to tell her future. That narrative thread is too good in the novels to be left out of the TV show.
Also encouraged by the adaptations Brienne is being given to attach her to more characters. The long trek she takes in the novels is excellent, but won't serve for the shorter attention spans on TV.
Finally, the Jon Snow stuff is being executed as well as could be hoped in a TV adaptation. When Jon starts mixing it up with the Red Woman and the Wildlings and the Boltons and so forth, it should result in much excellence.

I saw the episode "The Sons of the Harpy" yesterday.
I loved it when the Red Woman tried to seduce Jon Snow, but only ended up successfully diddling his mind.
Really enjoyed the fact that Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen were individually the focus of separate scenes. Unfortunately, only Rhaegar's character was illuminated, but that's probably intentional. Lyanna's characterization probably awaits special circumstances.
Finally, it was unintentionally funny when some Sons of the Harpy pulled their ambush on Grey Worm and some fellow Unsullied. Barristan Selmy, who is supposed to be one of the greatest swordsmen the Seven Kingdoms ever saw, looked a little rusty when he came to the rescue. Just a minor quibble, yet I was hoping for more when it became obvious he was joining the battle.

SPOILER ALERT!
I figured it out: Jon Snow is the offspring of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark.
(I mean, in the most recent episode, Sansa points out that Rhaegar raped Lyanna. Although, in the book, at least in the first 5 volumes, it seemed apparent at some point that Jon Snow's mother was some low-born woman.)
However, this parentage seems a lot more logical, given the story's meandering plotline.
