Of the handful of “period” super-hero movies produced during the ‘90s, “The Shadow” falls short of “The Rocketeer” and “Dick Tracy” but ranks ahead of “The Phantom” on the entertainment scale.

Getting kicked in the crotch by a horse ranks ahead of The Phantom on the entertainment scale (and the other two weren't much better, personally speaking).

On a more amusing note, Search was called Search Control by BBC1 when it was shown in the UK. No, I don't know why either.

From the few screencaps I've seen, The Shadow does look far superior to Universal's previous Blu-ray. I only wish it had more bonus features, but at least Shout! gave us something.

And The Phantom was/is great fun. All of those early-/mid-90s period comic book flicks are superior to most of the ones we've gotten in recent years.
