I loved your interview, Jon. At first I thought the interviewer kind of put you on the defensive, but I see that he is a IFMCA member; I also see that he asked questions that “inquiring minds” would want to know.
I hope all of the FSMers read it. Many questions we may have had are answered. I was delighted to read that the IFMCA awards may have impacted budding careers, especially in Europe because the awards drew attention to certain composers.
I didn’t have a clue that there were no “guilds” for composers. Maybe they should form a guild.
I was glad to read that the Oscars and Globes don’t dictate your winners. Of course, I did see that sometimes they may mesh. I liked the fact that all the judges pulled in smaller, lesser known works. At the same time, your group didn’t turn deaf ears to mainstream greats like John Williams.
