Man, I just placed a huge order last night... not on any of these though. Love these sales however, great opportunity to catch up on titles for newcomers to film music.

How is Bite the Bullet? Is it relatively accessible as North goes? Southall's review at Movie Wave has me intrigued.

Chris.

Any recommendations for Master Of Ballantrae? It's annoying how few of Prometheus' releases have sound samples available. I love Bruce Broughton in general.

I ordered it yesterday after reading Sarge's recommendation. Didn't even listen to the clip. I like surprises.

I used some Christmas money to get some cheap CD's and I did the biggest splurge with the $9.99 on "Contract On Cherry Street". Too bad these sales were done in small batches. If that Dennis McCarthy title had been up, I'd have gotten that, too and saved on shipping costs.

I saw some of "Gone to Texas" on TV many years ago and it sounded like a nice score. There's probably a wealth of hidden gems in the back catalogue of the label.

G'day Cap'n, I generally love most of Alex North's music. BITE THE BULLET is a kind of mixed bag for me. It's got some terrific tracks indeed, plus quotes from Copland - so if you like your North "accessible", well, it's pretty accessible. Not too keen on the lengthy solo guitar cues, and the "comic relief" is maddening (but thankfully brief).

Of course, my views are just that, and it's almost impossible to know if anyone else will feel the same.

EDITED A FEW MINUTES LATER______________________________________________________

"I've just read the James Southall review you mention. He says it so much better than I did, although his opinion of the score is higher than mine. In fact, that review has made me want to listen to it again."

Ordered the following today:

- Philadelphia experiment / Mother lode (Ken Wannberg)
- RobotJox (Frederic Talgorn)
- Hammett (John Barry)
- Big Jake (Elmer Bernstein)
- Masquerade (John Barry)
- Mike's murder (John Barry)

I need to beef up my Barry collection, and you can never go wrong with a Bernstein score for The Duke. cool

Is this title $4.95 or $14.95? It's listed as the latter at SAE.
