Well I believe “The Outlaw Josey Wales” will be released soon but not by Quartet. Intrada is the one that got a deal with Malpaso for “Escape from Alcatraz” so I suspect they’re also releasing “Josey Wales” in the near future. And even maybe “The Gauntlet” complete.

There aren’t actually that many filmscores left to release:
1962 The Nun and the Sergeant (don’t think the tapes have survived)
1964 McHale’s Navy (Blu-Ray contains isolated score so …)
1964 For those who think young (mostly source music, little score)
1965 McHale’s Navy joins the Air Force (again Blu-Ray contains isolated score so …)
1970 Suppose they gave a War and Nobody came (a lot of source music and some score)
1972 Junior Bonner (tapes suppose to be in bad condition)
1976 The Bad News Bears (adaptations of Bizet’s Carmen)
1976 Semi-Tough (mostly source music, very little score)
1980 Below the Belt (mostly songs by Fielding himself)

For Re-Release:
1962 Advise and Consent (RCA)
1971 Johnny got his Gun (Bay Cities)
1972 A War of Children (Bay Cities)
1976 The Outlaw Josey Wales (Warner)
1977 The Gauntlet (Warner)

When it comes down to his television scores there’s of course still a lot to release that’s worth buying on CD. Don’t know if it’s a coincidence but after “Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia” he did “The Gambler”. And after that he did …. “Kolchak: The Night Stalker” (!!!)

1972 Junior Bonner (tapes suppose to be in bad condition)

There was never talk about the tapes being in a bad condition. Roger Feigelson only said they are at BYU.

While I would be up to hear any other new releases by Jerry Fielding, the Main Event/Most Wanted for me now is THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES, with the complete score AND the LP programme made available as a 2 discer and the great LP artwork kept intact.
Anything else would just be jam smile

QUARTET REPORT

• 2012: Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (expanded)
• 2013: The Gambler
• 2014: … (fill the gap)

"Johnny Got His Gun" would fit.

Quartet did a marvelous job on the previous two scores!

Thanks for the kind words! We have two Fielding titles in the pipeline planned for 2014:

2014

one previously unreleased score in any form: ?
and one expanded re-release: "The Outfit" (C&C)

1976 The Bad News Bears (adaptations of Bizet’s Carmen)
...

McHale's Navy has a huge amount of score and is simply sublime
For those who think young has more than little score!
Suppose... has a huge amount of score!!
Junior Bonner was ready for release by Intrada and was just stopped
Bad News Bears is sublime as well (as much as the Gambler) since Fielding is a master arranger

I vaguely recall Intrada being unable to justify the release of Junior Bonner, due to the cost of releasing it against the brevity of the score, plus the limited number of fans for Jerry Fielding.

The music from the "McHale's Navy" feature film was later tracked in the television series.

Posted on August 23, 2013, at the Intrada forum on regards to "Junior Bonner":

Roger Feigelson:
Not anymore. I took another run at it. The problem is it's a short score and the only available elements were 1/4" mono stored at BYU. And BYU raised their transfer rates 10 fold, making the deal financially out of reach. We had the same issue with FUNERAL HOME -- really high costs, but in that case due to the Canadian Musician's Union. But that was a decent length score coming from 24-track stereo elements so we were able to charge a premium price (and thank you all, still, for supporting that release even with the high price tag). And that will be the last score recorded in Canada we do.

And in the last month, MV also said mentioned the problem with the Canadian Musician's Union.

So it ‘s true! Oh my God, they killed Jerry! Those B*%#ds!!! :-)

Seriously guys, there are also a lot of TV-movies that need to be released:

1971 Ellery Queen: don’t look behind you (this one first please!!!)
1972 A War of Children
1974 Unwed Father
1974 Honky Tonk
1975 Hustling
1975 One of our own
1975 Matt Helm
1977 Little Ladies of the Night
1978 Lovey: A Circle of Children II
1979 Mr. Horn
1979 High Midnight

Maybe La-La-Land is planning a 15 CD-Box of “McMillan & Wife”, who knows.

I think I saw the tapes for Hustling in the BYU list.

So, all we need now is some mega-rich, money's no object 'Film Music afficianado' who can pay BYU the required funds to allow Junior Bonner and Hustling to be unleased upon about 500 or so adoring people! wink

A complete "The Outfit" with that many alternate versions of cues would be so great but has Quartet done a MGM/Turner title before?

Yes, we're getting older and older and soon close to extinction (DNA already stored in vaults though)

1972 A War of Children
1979 Mr. Horn

A 12-minute suite from A WAR OF CHILDREN appeared on the Bay Cities "Jerry Fielding: Film Music 2" CD. And a 15-minute suite from MR. HORN appeared on the Bay Cities "Chato's Land" CD.

It would be a great idea if Twilight Time could give "The Outfit" the proper edition on blu-ray the movie deserves.

...and restore the longer cut of the film that is not on the WBShop edition of the DVD. Turner Classic Movies airs the longer version.
