THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27 STAR WARS: EPISODE VII---Adam Driver (INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS, GIRLS) is in talks to be the sequel's main villain who is "in the vein of iconic villain Darth Vader". Driver was picked by JJ Abrams over Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving. INDEPENDENCE DAY 2---Jeff Goldblum confirmed he's in talks to return for the sequel, "Yeah, they've talked to me about it and I've talked to them about it and they're excited and I'm anxious and eager to see — I haven't read anything — what they cook up. You know, I think they're trying to put it together." He added that he was not asked to return for the JURASSIC WORLD sequel to JURASSIC PARK. SIN CITY 2: A DAME TO KILL FOR---first art released for the sequel which stars Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Christopher Meloni, Ray Liotta and Stacy Keach star. Premiere is August 22. ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING---Kate Beckinsale has joined the cast of the Terry Jones comedy movie in which aliens give powers to a teacher so that all of his wishes come true. Simon Pegg, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, Robin Williams and Joanna Lumley also star. THE BOY---horror movie underway starring Rainn Wilson, David Morse, Zuleikha Robinson and Mike Vogel. The movie is the first of a trilogy about the making of a serial killer from childhood to adult. MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE---director candidates are Jeff Wadlow (KICK-A**-2), Harald Zwart (THE KARATE KID), Chris McKay (THE LEGO MOVIE) and Mike Cahill (ANOTHER EARTH). SUSAN COOPER---Jason Statham will co-star with Melissa McCarthy in this comedy spy movie. THE ARSENIO HALL SHOW---the show was renewed for Season 2. ZOMBIE SAFARI---horror movie underway in which is set in the future after a zombie apocalypse. A billionaire opens a zombie safari park where participants can hunt zombies, but after a power blackout, the zombies escape, and the hunters become the hunted.

I'm pretty sure the movie never stated that every single one of it's species is involved in the attacks on Earth. Different ships can move to different planets, increasing the chance of finding worlds with sufficient resources. Just like there is never just one swarm of locusts.

Does anyone else remember when STAR WARS was simply a stand-alone, fun, exhilarating & jokey Saturday matinee tribute with no back story "universe"?
