Original Motion Picture Score

NEED FOR SPEED

Music Composed by
Nathan Furst
(Dust To Glory, Act Of Valor)

Based on the most successful racing video game franchise ever with over 140 million copies sold, DreamWorks Pictures’ Need For Speed chronicles a near-impossible cross-country race against time — one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption. In a last attempt to save his struggling garage, blue-collar mechanic Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul) — who with his team skillfully builds and races muscle cars on the side — reluctantly partners with wealthy, arrogant ex-NASCAR driver Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). Just as a major sale to a car broker Julia Bonet (Imogen Poot) looks like it will save the business, a disastrous, unsanctioned race results in Dino framing Tobey for manslaughter.

Two years later and fresh out of prison, Tobey is set on revenge with plans to take down Dino in the high-stakes De Leon race — the Super Bowl of underground racing. To get there in time, Tobey must run a high-octane, action-packed gauntlet, dodging cops coast-to-coast and dealing with fallout from a dangerous bounty Dino put on his car. With his loyal crew and the surprisingly resourceful Julia as allies, Tobey defies odds at every turn and proves that even in the flashy world of exotic supercars, the underdog can still finish first.

In one of the most exciting action film scores of the year, composer Nathan Furst fires up a full symphony orchestra and hits the gas.

DreamWorks Pictures opens Need For Speed nationwide on March 14, 2014.

That sounds promising. Not familiar with Furst, although I remember hearing decent things about Act of Valor. Has anyone heard Dust to Glory, which although from nearly a decade ago looks like it's in similar territory to this film?

I love Act of Valor. After the first listening of the score, I knew I heard some decent tracks, but I thought this is nothing I haven't heard before... But upon my second and third listen I discovered Faust is very talented and this score is awesome!!! Out of 20 tracks I kept 15 for my iTunes library. They make a tight, riveting action score. Recommended.

I've heard great things about Dust to Glory, and look forward to Need for Speed!!

Those are some nice lengthy tracks. I hope this is as good as it sounds, and as good as the movie looks bad.

Despite it's orchestral flare..it still sounds like a heavy synth mock-up.
