Finally got my hands on this release, and it's just great - full of upbeat and tuneful melodies (which is expected given it's Delerue) and as well as some surprisingly engaging action and suspense music. I also enjoyed Delerue's take on the three big band standards. Finally the sound quality is top notch!
I hope folks are buying and enjoying this release so we can have more Delerue releases in the future!
I'm gland you're enjoying the CD Mal, gladder still that Quartet released it, but is it possible that every single work by a composer are automatic masterworks? How does one distinguish between good, better, best in that case? Just curious.

Well as I was saying, and ignoring the usual trollish behavior from TerraEpon, as a Delerue fan, I consider all his music to be great! There's always at least one gem of a theme in his scores.
The scores that I don't hold in as high esteem as others are the overly dramatic ones: To Kill a Priest, One Deadly Summer, The House on Carrol Street, and few others; the music is very good but can be a depressing listen. So the more melodic, the better; PARTNERS is very melodic.
And even though though I was going to ignore the troll:
As to sound quality for PARTNERS, for a score that was recorded in 1982 for an absolutely obscure and forgotten film, with a probably nonexistent budget for music: it's top notch, so get over yourself.

No, I'm not trolling. You complain again and again that Intrada and Lalaland aren't listening to you because they aren't releasing scores by Delerue without even knowing if they are even able to. That's much more trolling than anything I wrote in this thread
And then, as I said above, the sound quality for this score is NOT particularly great. It's average -- obscurity has no bearing on that, or else something like Batman wouldn't sound as bad as it does, or perhaps a better example since it was only a year later would be The Right Stuff.
I'm not poopooing this score -- I really enjoyed the samples and will probably buy it. But you really seem to gush at every little note Delerue wrote so it's really hard to consider your opinion on it all that valid. It's kinda like crying wolf.
