Looking forward to the score and the movie.

I hope the score release will feature only the score and not mainly songs from the movie (as "Eat pray love" did).

OK... this seems to have been cancelled and only shittunes and various other overpriced download only garbage is available now...
or has the CD actually made it to market anywhere in the world?

It's that or nothing.....

If you want the music it's available in a not too bad audio format if you want it.

If not, move on.

And while we're at it, I'm fine with you bagging on the iTunes store. I wish they'd make their music available at a higher bitrate myself.

As a fan of comedy, however, I strenuously object to the expression, "shittunes," mainly because there's nothing especially clever or funny about it. If Apple's download music service were called "HitTunes" and you changed it to "ShitTunes" THEN we'd be in business, but iTunes = ShitTunes is just kind of lame and juvenile.

Oh, and I agree with Ford 100%. It's too bad that it's only available at that bitrate via iTunes, but hey, at least it's available. If you don't want it, don't buy it. That's all there really is to say.

I've bit my tongue for a while about this, but I have to agree. Comments like this affect no one in any sort of positive way, and just make you look like an angry child. I'd advise that you stop.

It is really simple, don't buy something that one dislikes.

I like to listen music in the best quality. Just sit on my couch and listen, so every detail is important. For that reason I bought a fine american Krell amplifier to listen to it. Unfortunately I hear the difference, even in pressings.
Nowadays is a lot of CD releases (and specially re-releases! Also from BSX - thanks!), so I have big possibilities to choose the music for listening from CDs.
If iTunes is "not too bad audio format" then feel free to buy it. For me it's really bad format really, so I'm not buying it now and will not buy it in the future. Just respect the opinion and possibilities of other people, please...

How many folks have the free time time to do that in this day and age?

Not very many I'm sorry to say.

You're right and it is a shame that music seems to have become so disposable and only something people have on in the background.

To me though that doesn't mean that we should just give up on quality and settle for the lowest common denominator.

To me it's not even whether you can hear the difference between lossless and lossy it's just that iTunes and Amazon *is* a lower quality format than a CD is.

But anyway this is an argument which has gone on many times before and will again. So before this thread is derailed I will say that I did look and Qobuz have Long Way Down available as a lossless download.

Actually, it's more of a shame that people seem more interested in the CD than the music itself.

Also, I'd argue that the thread title is misleading. This release hasn't been canceled.

Why is it misleading? There's a question mark.

Same as if a new movie came out on DVD but not Blu-ray. Sure, the DVD would be "good enough" and, hey, it's the movie that counts. But... really?

So should all thread titles say "canceled?" after them now?

Why is it misleading? There's a question mark.

Because the OP thinks the whole release has been canceled because there's going to be no CD. This is misleading, as the digital release means it has NOT been canceled.

+1

I grew up in the 70s, 80s where a lot of scores weren't released and the best one could do was hold up a mic to the tv speaker and record the music with dialogue and sound fx (*and my stupid sister yammering in the background). I'm more than happy iTunes allow more scores to be released. Better than nothing. And the bitrate is pretty decent. Not like it first was when iTunes had lower rates.
