He's a wonderful actor, but I don't recall seeing anything much.
Maybe they just don't ask him.
But he's of a generation: he worked with Pinter etc. and came out of the new wave after Osborne etc.. He would have immensely articulated insights if he'd loose them, but I'd take him for one of those guys who'd let the work speak for itself. I'd take him to be modest too, and humorous.

I've followed his career for years -- he was excellent in the American Film Theatre version of Pinter's "Homecoming" and I was hoping he would win the Oscar for his role as the running coach in "Chariots Of Fire" -- he was soooooooooooo good in that! But most of us here, of course, remember him in Ridley Scott's original "Alien." Very busy actor, but it doesn't look like he cares to wade in the Hollywood publicity bullshit.

In answer to the question: I'm fairly certain I recall him appearing on one or more UK chat shows, probably back in the 1970s/80s - my guess would be a spot on the Michael Parkinson show (however the list showing on IMDb does not mention him - albeit it does mention Jack Nicholson! - see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkinson_(TV_series))
Ian Holm has been an actor I've enjoyed in a number of roles over a great many years, though I wouldn't give tuppence for his mainstream films such as Alien and LOTR ....
I first noticed him, i.e. learnt his name, watching a TV series in the early 1970s: The Man from Haven in which he played a character who had access to some Swiss Bank Accounts, each week a different target (I think ... ) - the show had a marvellous theme by Christopher Gunning - note that the details on IMDb are inaccurate/lacking.
And from there, I spotted him in many support roles such as Mary, Queen of Scots, Shout at the Devil, Robin and Marian, Juggernaut ... always very good, always in command of the material.
But it was some years later when I watched the 13 part TV series Game, Set and Match in which he was the lead that he impressed me most. I almost didn't bother watching part 2 but decided to give it a try ... and was hooked!
Back to the question: he clearly is a private man who has shunned the spotlight ... if only a number of other stars were so considerate!
