An excellent reissue from LaLaLand. It sounds great ( to my ears) and the package itself is 1st rate - colorful design with solid liner notes that cover the film, the making of the film ( which was very interesting ) and a good analysis of TD's score itself.

Well done, very well done guys. Hopefully it'll pave the way for more TD from LaLa Land.

Ummmm how about it guys? big grin

I liked MV's comment in the announcement thread saying Froese was "very aware" of this reissue. Based on Edgar's controlling nature in the past he likely wasn't too pleased razz But based on how this one ended up he oughtta be tickled pink!

I've had the Varese CD since the original release, but it is good others can now grab this at a good price and an upgraded presentation.

And yeah I'd be there for any TD score releases that come down the pipeline.

I have the original CD, so I will not buy this, even if I would love to read the liner notes.

I just feel that I can't justify buying music that I already have.

But you can "justify" taking the time to post this and feel it's important to share with the rest of this?

Why exactly?

The same reason why people post "Ordered!"
Seriously I thought the purpose of a discussion forum was to have a community of enthusiasts share, discuss, critique and voice their opinions and concerns, likes and dislikes.
It is my opinion that many of your posts aren't "justified" either.

Not exactly the most polite answer to the question...

But it was an answer.

Since Froese was likely opposed to the release, that may have ruled out any expansion. A few years back TD did post one extended track on their fan club site. So there's at least a small amount of extra music.

It may have been my ears expecting it, but the new album DOES sound better than the original release. Maybe not a revelatory experience but ... it sounds great.

And Randall Larson's notes are great. Lots of interview quotes from TD and writer /director Mike Gray, plus although it wasn't news to me, I liked Larson pointing out which cues were based on previous TD compositions, and which made it into later albums. A nice comprehensive touch.

A top notch package.

I've been listening to this CD on repeat since I got it in Friday's mail. The rearrangements of tracks from (the original TD albums) Pergamon, Tangram and Exit, plus the music that makes this score unique, make this a killer album. The vibrant analog sounds the band used during this incarnation/era are second to none.

The remastered sound is excellent. Even if you have the original Varese issue, the remastering and extensive liner notes -- not to mention the very-reasonable price of $16 -- make this an essential buy if you're a Tangerine Dream fan.

Here's a cool interview with the late Mike Gray on the making of the film: http://pulsingcinema.com/archives/441

All good scores (we can't complain when it comes to Franke, Froese, Schmoelling), but my vote goes to Firestarter.

Do Edgar and/or Chris even have the rights to Streethawk?

This is one of the first TD cassettes I bought back in 1985. It remains one of my TD favorites so this remaster which noticeably improves upon the original Varese release is a welcome addition to my TD remasters. LaLa remastered this release quite nicely, some well-informed liner notes and improved the artwork (including a nice little nod on the disc to the original, silly Varese cover). The sound quality is of significant improvement so I can only imagine that anyone calling themselves a TD fan and scoffing at purchasing this because they already have the CD (which was released in the 80's) probably doesn't have much of an ear for improved audio dynamics (last time I checked mastering technology has improved a tad since the 80's). Of course, when TD fans do not support label efforts that produce Tangerine Dream music they should not be surprised when unreleased/expanded TD works never make it into our hands.

That was a pretty funny item to place on the checkout counter with its cover image of a prepubescent "alien" child. Those were the days...

i mentioned above ones, because to my knowledge there hasn't been a proper release of any one of them.
Maybe there isn't enough music to fit a cd. if so. I hope someone will put multiple albums together
on 1 cd or 2 cd set.

This is one of my favorite (released) Tangerine Dream scores. Happy to hear the remaster is worthwhile. I'll be picking this up soon! Thanks LLL -

I could be wrong, but I don't believe there was any overlap between Wavelength and the music released on the Tatort singles, like "Flock," Speed," "Das Madchen auf der Treppe," etc.

Nothing on TATORT to my knowledge but it is worth pointing out that BREAKOUT was originally used in Edgar Froese's VITAMIN C track from KAMIKAZE 1989 soundtrack (that film was released in 1982). Also, for fans of THE SOLDIER you can hear the music from the glider scene 2 minutes into 'ALLEY WALK' on WAVELENGTH.
