In a new Q&A with Don Peake, he has revealed Volumes 1, 2, and 3 of "Knight Rider", will be re-issued, but not on Hitchcock Media Records, but rather now Perserverance Records.

As well as Volumes 4, 5, 6, and 7 on the label, too.

He also says, unfortunately, at this time the studio cannot locate the music for the episode "Goliath", so that's on hold.

First on CD, then iTunes later. "Oops -- we announced too early!" Amazon.com is showing March 10 (obviously pushed back).

The Q&A:

I hope they also tackle the one episode Morton Stevens did ("Deadly Maneuvers"), but who knows.

Lukas, what are the possibilities of them doing a re-issue of the Phillips work?

The second interview I have seen with him. He seems like a real nice guy as usual.

Part 1 (of 2) from the other interview:

Is this the "Holy Grail" Robin continues to remind us of? LOL.

No, pretty sure that's the still in development "Highlander". KR is too new of a deal to have been reminding us about for a while now, as just a year ago it was still HMR that was still going to do it.

Great news! I tried ordering the Peake volumes of Knight Rider on the Hitchcock website but was unable to complete the transaction. Now that they will be available by way of Perseverance, I will be able to order all the volumes. Many thanks for this news.

I also, by the way, reviewed Volume 2, over at MainTitles.net, if you or anybody needs to read some before purchase.

I believe these are being released via Perseverance on a distribution deal only. It's not a licensed deal.

Could you explain what that means?

If you listen to the interview I linked to, Peake says they have given him a license (for three years); the way he says it, is kind of confusing. I assume he means PR and not him personally.

Distribution deal= Say you own your rights and music yet want to make CDs with your own label name. Artists who own their music or sell their CDs on a website tend to use CDBaby to get their music to market. What this offers is that I can sign a deal with a label like Perseverance or Varese, for example, and use their distribution to get my finished CDs to more buyers. I don't sign away my rights, I keep control and I can get more per unit. All I do is pay the label a fee and use their infrastructure.

Licensed = Pretty much any deal where a label like Varese or Lalaland go to a studio or artist and do a deal to release the music. In these deals, the label handles all the costs from mastering, art and making the final CDs and pays a royalty to the licensor for the rights.

And Justin: According to Robin Esterhammer, Don made a deal for the latter volumes to be released on Perseverance. All else is a distribution deal with Don's label.

I see that Vols. 4 and 5 of "Knight Rider" are not being issued on CD, but on a flash drive, in both MP3 and WAV formats. I suppose for very small quantities (250 each), this is more efficient than pressing CDs or even going the MOD route.
