Alright already! After numerous requests, I have recorded the first part of a double album project: a rerecording of the the original score to the film that started it all, EVIL DEAD. The second part is entitled A NIGHTMARE REIMAGINED, where the images inspire entirely new music, using the sound of the same ensemble. I’ll keep you updated on my progress and the many surprises that will accompany the release. Joseph
Waow! I can't wait to hear the whole thing! A re-recording is a genius idea, and a 2 cds set? I think we can hope for a complete score from the first film!
That initial post I linked to is from five months ago, and LoDuca says in the reunion panel (which happened this past weekend) that it's still a work in progress, but he also says the re-recording is finished.
I'm guessing we'll see it this year. Maybe around Halloween.
I wonder what the holdup with this project is? Licensing issues? Does the new tv series project perhaps have anything to do with it? Just speculating here.
News of this rerecording dates back as far as 2013...

I seriously cannot wait for this to happen. I love the preview track he's released (it's got a bit more meat to it than the original recording) and I am intrigued by the idea of whole new score for the film.
To be fair, LoDuca has often got about 12 TV shows to score at any one time, so I imagine it's not his top priority. Hopefully we'll see it around when ASH VS. THE EVIL DEAD debuts.

I agree, it's one hell of a teaser! And I always thought the original release was a tad on the short side, so especially curious to hear what more he wrote.
