It has been said before, this is the release of the year so far. Such a wonderful and important score. I always loved Goldsmith`s melancholy Bathes theme and now to have all those wonderful addition cues is fantastic. The combination of synth and orchestra is just amazing and innovative. And IMHO the synth stuff doesn`t sound nearly as outdated as the synth stuff in Innerspace for example although the movie is older than Innerspace.
Thank you Jerry Goldsmith for composing that masterpiece and thank you Intrada for producing a perfect release.

Nothing compares to Innerspace fantastic synth approach. But mine, like yours, is just opinion.

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. This might be my most favorite Goldsmith melody ever.

Just got this...what a terrific score. Never owned the truncated MCA/Varese album, but at a full hour, it's a real meal.

I received it today as part of the intrada sale. I like the sound of the intrada and especially how it plays with the new cues, definitely not filler material. I used to own the Varese album but longed to hear the additional material from watching the DVD, I really like the movie as well. I remember getting the VHS from a library, it was one of the few horror titles they had and I figured I might give it a go, totally blown away by the opening credits music, much like when I first saw Dead Zone.

P.S. I'm getting an appetite for sandwiches listening to this score. big grin

Not sold out, just temporarily out of stock, at least according to the order page. Others like that have eventually gotten restocked (see Rocketeer thread).

Hmmm... And 6-8 hours ago it was Sold Out smile
Probably the same situation as with Jaws 3 not so long time ago...

This is still one of my favorite Jerry Goldsmith scores. Interestingly, this was my second purchased Jerry Goldsmith album (after POLTERGEIST). I had a couple of more of his scores on tape (from friends) or audio taped from movies, but PSYCHO II was the second Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack LP I bought.

I love this score and can not recommend this release enough for those who do not have it yet.
Gorgeous main theme, excellent and varied suspense material. The extra tracks add a lot of diversity, are essential and make the score flow even better.

The one thing I'm not a big fan, however, is the remix from the multitracks. It still sounds great but being used to the film/LP stereo mix it feels a bit odd to me, with the piano lower in the mix and the synths more prominent (compare the ending of It's Not You Mother or the End Title). Not that it is bad, just a bit different, but this is one score I'd happly rebuy if remastered from the original stereo mixes like Intrada did with YSH and Last Starfighter.

Well, I still have the original LP and CD release, so no need for me to re-buy it even if such a release came. Haven't done a comparison though, and it's been a few years that I listened to either recording (and not once on the same system).

Rewatched the film. It's a good sequel, I thought it was well-thought out in terms of structure and plot reveals and twists. The music does a good job, painting Bates as a more sympathetic character.
